If you have both and have used them surely you'll be aware of the positives/negatives for them?
But in my opinion;
Autopole
+'s
~ don't take up floor space.
~ can be used close to corners & against walls.
~ can be used to mount many differing items.
~ can support very heavy loads compared to similarly priced stands.
-'s
~ have to be used between floor & ceiling (or between two walls).
~ can only have items mounted on them when using specific 'grip ware'.
~ once set-up with lights (or whatever) mounted on them, they can't easily be moved.
~ take time to set-up & position.
~ have a less than 50% reduction in total height for storage/transport.
Stands
Basically the opposite of all the above...
Me I also have both and use two autopoles for background use and a third as and when, but it spends most of its time in the corner.
My favorite stands are the Manfrotto 213 column stand, 2 of which I use most of the time. Small(ish) footprint, simple to adjust, easy to move and strong. This is also why I didn't mention cost as a negative for the autopole which some would feel is high compared to many stands.
Having said all the above I feel both stands and 'poles are indispensable and wouldn't dream of not having both as IMO they are for different functions.
