Tripod umbrella clamp recommendations?

I’m thinking of getting a clamp for my tripod to hold an umbrella. This is for keeping the camera dry in the rain, not for a lighting set up.

There are lots available on Amazon, eBay etc. But I wonder if anyone has some first hand experience and can offer any recommendations please?

Surely, that will just make it easier for a gust of wind to blow it over? You'd be better of with a waterproof cover IMHO.

I'm with Sky on this. Even if the tripod doesn't get blown over the wind will cause the umbrella to vibrate and that will be transmitted directly to the tripod.

I wouldn’t use it in adverse conditions. It’d be more for rainy, but still conditions where, if I had a small umbrella and clamp I could continue shooting.

I shoot a lot of film and waterproof covers are not always convenient or possible (e.g. when using a TLR).
