Tripod shoulder pad

I don't often use the catches to allow the legs to move out wider as the tripod is used at full height 90% of the time. If I am going lower (wider) then I normally have time to set up.

I have tried the equivalent of tubing and still found it painful after a short period

I may just be a wimp though ;)

optech do a carry strap thats decent, ive used a knee pad but that tended to end up in wrong place, other option is a camera jacket with padded shoulder, my manfrotto one coped very well with my rb67 plus tripod...

Thanks Paul - I have found an old weight lifting accessory that may do the trick. It is a bit like the pipe lagging Ian mentioned (his comment got me thinking) but thicker and has a material outer.

I have cut it into 2 pieces and plan on giving it a try this weekend :)

Dave.

Thanks Roy - tried some extra thick pipe today but it is still not right. It does not come high enough and the one in your link looks the same :(

The one in my original post comes a lot higher and would be better for how I carry my tripod.

Dave.

I often sling a beanbag over my shoulder to rest the tripod on, handy for comfort and resting the lens :)

Yes - I carry one on a strap around my shoulder - use it for sitting / kneeling on and resign the camera on in hides. It is filled with polystyrene balls. It may be a bit big for on my shoulder though. May be worth getting a small one and leaving attached to the tripod all the time then just using it as I carry the tripod.

Will look into it - thanks Gramps :)
