Does anyone know the actual screw size pitch and diameter of a standard tripod screw? I need one for a minor modification I am performing.
 
Doh. I knew it would be some bizarre stone age one !! Where am I going to find one screw of that type?

Mine would have been £1.49.
 
I got ten for £2 but I couldn't get any 1/2inch ones so I'll have to chop one down.
 
Yes it's a 1/4 by 20 tpi if I remember rightly, you can find them about, I can get them fairly local if your stuck, I bought a couple for converting a theodolite stand into a tripod, I had to buy a few different lenghs as I wasn't quite sure how it would work out, I think it was a couple of quid for about 6 different sizes. Must have a few left somewhere.
 
Cheers, I am attempting to to fit a cold shoe to the top of the Nikon flash extender cord. I was going to glue it but thought the screw would add extra strength. That way I could attach the GPS module or alternatively use two flashes
 
I believe the DIN standard is now for a 1/4" UNC and not Whitworth.

Whitworth still works with UNC, and vice versa though
