Tripod Redesign

My one concern is that I got the impression that your redesign is based more around the speed of setting it up than anything else.

Now, I am not sure if its just me but I have never used a tripod in a situation that needed a quick setup. Landscapes, wildlife, portraits or product shots are subjects where a quick setup tripod isn't a major concern.

make sure that you aren't trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist as that could go against you.

It's called "engineering the survey to get the result you want".. or "I'm so fixed on one outcome I can't possibly imagine any others".. also known as -10% on the final mark :bonk:

LOL

if it was me I would of looked at some sort of modular bag design that could be used for weekend hikes as well as business days :)

done it mate  I can see the need for a quick deploymant system you can't always take your time in every situation

There's at least one tripod available with a quick set up system. Having seen it in operation, I was impressed with how well it seemed to work. There are times when you might want/need to set up and knock down quickly and move on to another viewpoint and having to deal with 3 legs individually can slow you down a lot.

Done.
However the most important features are not covered.

Stability
Vibration characteristics
weight carrying ability
ease of levelling
(Ease of micro adjusting legs.)
Sturdiness of centre column if extended. (usually inadaquate to unuseable)

Thanks for all the responses guys.

I know the feedback at the moment is mixed and there are comments on the need for quick deployment. As mentioned, the project is at it's early stages and you never know, I could end up be doing something different! So far the feedback has definitely opened my eyes and been a great help.

Done. Best of luck.
