Hello All,
I bought a Giotto's MTL9351 B Tripod + MH5011 Three Way Head Kit for £69 inc. delivery based on this this bargains thread here Now it arrived and the head is damaged badly (plate is snapped off around one of the tilt points). I've contacted both Amazon and the 3rd Party selly, who are both happy for me to return the whole thing for a full refund, both say they cannot replace due to T&C, stock etc.

Now my actual question is, is it worth me keeping the base tripod and then trying to pick up a head either new or 2nd hand (and recomendations around £40-50?) or send the whole thing back and either keep an eye out for a repeat deal, or just look for a completely different combination?

Any and all advice appreciated.

Thanks

Hi Origin

I would have thought the supplier should be able to sort the problem - but failing that why not contact the distributor and see if they can help. It makes no sense that you should have to buy a new head at all.

The supplier has no more stock so has offered a full refund..........can't ask for better than that. It has nothing to do with the distributor as the contract is with the supplier.

To the OP;

As it stands just now you have a set of legs that are about £10-£15 cheaper than you could buy retail and a head that is goosed. Only you can make the decision on waiting for a new head of your choice or returning the whole outfit and start again.

It would have been great deal if it had worked but it hasn't and you've had the benifit of handling the tripod and getting a feel re build quality etc without it costing you anything.

You have to ask yourself 'did you buy because you wanted that particular tripod or because it was a deal'?

Personally I'd return it.

A bit of both, I saw the deal, did some research and thought it would be a good one to for based on the reviews I read.

I may try contacting them and see what they say, surely if it had broken next month for example while I was using it, it would be covered under warranty. If they tell me to jog on then I will just send it back to Amazon for a full refund.

Thanks for the replies.

Just an update to say that I have had excellent service and help from Giotto direct who have inspected the head and are sending me a replacement unit directly.

I did however go out and get a 2nd Hand Manfrotto RC141 while this was being sorted so I now have two heads! :)
