I've just bought a new head for my tripod (Jessops Major Carbon Fibre) and as the tripod came with 2 centre columns, I'd like to leave the original head (pan and tilt) on one and put my new head (ball head) on the other but I've just realised that I need another screw fitting for the column to do this.

I have linked to a picture of the parts in questions. The screw is fatter at the bottom as it needs to be for the column and thinner at the top but I'm not sure on the sizes and can't seem to find the specs (but I would assume that the top bit that goes into the head would be 3/8" as thats pretty standard isnt it?). Jessops have stopped selling it but I'm going to give them a call later but I don't hold out much hope.

Does anyone know: 1) What the actual name for this screw is (and the plastic bit shown to tighten it)?
2) Where can I get one from?

Thank you for any help you are able to give me.

Update: Just called Jessops and they were useless but that was expected.

I think they are called reversible mounting studs. Wouldnt know where to get a spare though

Have a good look at the female thread in the head and check to see if there's an adaptor in there to reduce it from 3/8" to 1/4". If the thread in the head is actually 1/4", I would be tempted to get it drilled out and rethreaded to 3/8" since the result should be more stable than using an adaptor. Make sure the machine shop taps the hole out to 3/8" UNC rather than Whitworth though, the threads are very similar (and will actually fit together) but the angle of the teeth is slightly different so they're not a perfect match.

If you want to go the adaptor route, http://www.wexphotographic.com/buy-...=22123948809&gclid=codwp7bi2rwcfdhltaodw1ka6a

Thank you for your help. I think I may have sourced the parts.
