Tripod in boot?

Do you guys carry a tripod in the boot of your car 9If you have a car) in case you see a good shot?


I am thinking of putting mine in the boot just in case.

I have one in the boot of my car but only because I have ended up buying a second one. I just leave it there and it saves taking it in and out of the house.
 
always. only a cheapy, but it's there just in case it need it.
 
I will put mine in the boot then. Not had any chance to use one yet!! Not had camera long but been so busy with school hols (Daughter is nearly 4). She complains when i try to take a pic of her!
 
My mate advised me to buy a monopod but are they invaluable?
 
But are they a useful tool? Mate uses his when he goes out all the time, swears by it but as far as i can see it is yet another thing to carry around.

Also, save starting another thread, is the CANON Eyecup EF ok to buy? Reason i ask is that i hate squashing my face right up to the viewfinder with snot from my nose running down the LCD!! :D

Some people like to use them as it keeps the camera steady but is more maneuverable than a tripod. I used mine for sports.
 
I'll sometimes take a monopod with me to force myself to slow down a bit and think about each shot more carefully without all the faff of using a tripod.
 
Well you would normally carry either the monopod OR the tripod.. A monopod will easily go along on almost any trip, strapped to a backpack etc.

Personally, I almost NEVER take the tripod out of the house.. I should but I don't. Maybe I need a lighter one..
 
Maybe a monopod would be a better item to carry in the boot.

I did try to get the Mother-In-Law in the boot but she is one big, Ugly, Fat beast!! :D
 
I think you need one of those nifty tripods where you can unscrew one leg and use it as a monopod :D

BTW: I have a nice monopod for sale, if your interested .... :schtum:
 
Or a manfrotto monopod that has the twist bottom that exposes a set of three mini legs so it stands by itself!

For me- 1 mono and 1 tripod in car. Don't bother bringing them in - keep them there and take out as and when required only.

Less shopping can fit in = probably a good thing :lol:

I often just my tripod as a monopod by using it without spreading any legs out.

Thank god the wife doesn't look like her mother at all, and my wife is now 42!

I tried that trick but got told off for it!

Anyway, i need some money first! And a head start from the wife!

I'll have to try that if I ever the house with the tripod :)
 
My OH has his monopod in the boot all the time. But he doesn't do much on landscapes.
 
Monopods are good for some things. If you are doing a lot of horizontal panning it can be very handy. Dunno if it would be much use up on the Mach loop as you need full freedom of movement all the time.

Cracking bit of kit - fairly lightweight too. Just don't leave all your kit on it unattended in a wind... :gag:

No Mr Policeman Sir, he walked into my monopod not realising there wasn't a camera attached...
 
I feel there is something missing if I don't have a camera body with me...Even a Point n Shoot...

Tripod always at hand and mounting rings always on my 70-200 and 120-300
 
Don't generally shoot stuff that requires a tripod. When I am out playing in the dark etc then I'll take it with me.
 
As i am intersted in Lanscape i think keeping a tripod in the boot would be a good idea then.

Talking of a Monopod, what one would you recommend? Cheap but useable.
 
I suppose I should get a couple of serviceable but cheap tripods to keep in the boots but then, where do I stop? Do I get a teeny weeny one and keep it strapped on the rack of the bike?

Might have to look at RedSnappers - are their QR plates compatible with Manfrotto's RC2 system?
