I've been introduced to DSLRs by a good friend at work, Fairly quickly bought a Nikon D5000. Someone regretting that now (which i had bought something that also could use the AF lenses) But that's me going off on a tangent.

I've been enjoying taking landscape pictures mostly but was suggest to get a tripod, which i did. After reading a few reviews went for a Giottos 8361 and head, sadly upon receiving the tripod and looking at it, every move you did with the centre and legs scratched the carbon. Not happy with this after spending £200 i sent it back.

But now I'm just a bit hesitant to trust the reviews i've been reading to just buy another.

Which is why I'm here. I'm looking for a tripod. It will mostly be used for landscape shots, but occasionally used for say group pictures at parties. Being a fairly big guy 6'2" i was looking at the Manfrotto 055XProB (i think that's what its called). Hopefully someone here has one, used one and can give some advice and or suggest something else.

TIA and i hope I haven't wasted anyones time with putting it in the wrong place or something, if i have can a mod move the post to were its meant to be.

I have the mafrotto 055 its a great tripod and should be great for you ..but they are heavy and that can be a problem when you carry a lot of equipment around with you ..but for a great all rounder the 055 takes some beating
