Recently upgraded to a gitzo cf with manfrotto junior geared head. Absolutely great and i think my tripod work has improved with this combo by slowing me down and getting the image exactly as i'm after and a really solid set of legs- no more blaming the gear- its the fool behind the gear thats at fault from now on [emoji3]

I have an issue though in that when trying to tilt up the head it often gets restricted by the diameter of the gitzo head and i have to try to shorten rear legs to address

Does anyone know if there's a packer i can get to raise the head off the tripod mount? I've looked at gitzo site but cant see it as an accessory

Moving up to a more expensive geared head might solve the issue but that would appear to involve considerable addnl investment

I might ask a local engineering company to make me something up but forum request for assistance first

I think that you're looking for a Manfrotto 120-38 spacer. It allows more movement for 60mm diameter heads on tripods with 67mm platforms.

Which adjustment are you using for elevation? Using the top one for elevation and the middle for tilt will give the most range. And putting the knob towards the front will allow the greatest upwards range (they allow for 90* one way and 30* in the other).
