Hi
I have a Redsnapper tripod with a three way head. Yesterday I bought a very cheap (£10) ball head to give it a try. By the way I bought it at West End Cameras in Tottenham Court Road.
The ball looks sufficiently well engineered but ...and here comes my problem, it has just one knob that locks both the ball and the panning base. I didn't know until yesterday about panning bases and now I understand its usefulness if it had two knobs, one for the ball and one for the base.
What's the point of having a panning base if you only have one knob? Isn't it better to just rotate the ball on a fixed base?
