I recently purchased a Gitzo GT3542XLS Systematic 3 series tripod after someone kindly alerted me to it in the suppliers section on here. I am looking to get a decent tripod bag for it and wondered what other people were using?

Gitzo seem to do one, but its £160 odd quid which seems a lot.

So I thought where better to ask than on this fine forum.

Are you sure you really need a bag for it?

Thinking is spent a small fortune on the tripod, want to look after it?! Its kept in its dust cover bag at the moment that it came in inside the box. I am sure you see what I mean. Have you got one? Do you keep yours in a bag?

Thanks for that, I did have a look, I know Manfrotto are part of the same company/organisation as Gitzo, just when I looked I didn't think it had much padding to it, where as when I looked at the uber expensive Gitzo ones, they have loads of padding but they cost a million pounds. LOL. I am picky me! :)

Edit: See what you did there, the one you linked it padded, perhaps I looked at an unpadded one yesterday as I didn't realise there were two types.

I saw there were two types, just thought most people would want the padded variety even if it means a weight penalty.

Yeah 100% My tripod seems to be 72cm folded down, no head, so I am thinking 90cm padded bag, gives plenty of room for any head I attach, that I can leave on there. Only £59 too, compared to the £130+ Gitzo bag.

Go for it, they look very nice bags, might even treat myself to one of the shorter ones to replace my old Jessops ten quid bag (it's actually not that bad)

I have the same tripod as you and it's kept in one of these manfrotto padded bags whilst in the car boot. I can't remember exactly which as I bought it years ago, I've only just started to use it again for car boot storage. The tripod only just fits in with a large uniqball attached so I'm guessing it's the 80cm padded bag. These manfrotto bags are big, for years the tripod bag sat unused mainly due to its size. It now stays in the car boot, it's far too big to carry with a backpack.

I have the padded manfrotto bag, very impressive. I'm sure a bag is not essential but like you I prefer some protection when it is in the boot with suitcases etc.
