Hi All
Looking to buy my first tripod so suggestions please. I have the Nikon D90 with at the moment the Nikon 18x105 and the 70x300 VR lens I will also be getting the Nikon 105 Macro lens soon. I would like a carbon tripod for lightness so what do you suggest. My budget is £400 for tripod and head. Many thanks for any help and advice.

It depends on what you're using it as to which head to recommend.

As an example I use geared heads (Manfrotto 405 and 410) which are ideal for the landscapes that I take but would be useless for birding.

If you let us know what sort of thing you like to photograph we'll be able to make better suggestions.

As to C/F legs, I've got a Gitzo mountaineer for travelling and carrying when walking, it is very good and surprisingly solid despite the lower leg sections being tiny.

The Induro carbon fibre tripods look good. See below from high to low.
