Hi all,

Know you may have answered these times before, but just wondering what you would spend your money on around £150.

I have just seen the Manfrotto 190X with 496RC2 head in LCE, looks a good bit of kit and a big step up from what i currently have.

As a tall person, need good height so i'm not stooped too much.

Would you recommend going down the 2nd hand route to get better spec, or are there any other ones you would recommend?

A lot depends on what you want to put on top of the tripod and how tall you are. The Manfrotto 190 is still quite a short tripod so might find yourself still having to stoop.
I saw one of these the other day - someone out shooting with it and I was really impressed http://www.jacobsdigital.co.uk/p-37...ipod-with-mh5001-head-kit-2.aspx?sku=0036452& Good and sturdy, it's gone on my wish list - just need to save some pennies.
I'm 6,1 and could use this at eye height without having to stoop and without having to raise the centre column

Another to consider is SLIK PRO 700DX

Goes up to 6 ft 5 Inches and takes a 7KG load

You can buy legs only or with the 3 way head. I ended up replacing the head (there's nothing wrong with it) but the legs are very sturdy (I prefer them to my Manfrotto 055) and are great if you're tall.

Currently available (legs and 3 way head) for RRP: £209.00 Sale Price: £119.00 Inc VAT here....

Thank you both for the suggestions.

With the Slik one, can you rotate the centre tube to get it low to the ground like the manfrotto ones?

You can't rotate the centre column by 90 degrees if that's what you mean.

The centre column is in two pieces. You just twist the column to unscrew the bottom 80% leaving you with a small stub of a centre column. This then allows you to splay the legs out really wide without the centre column touching the ground if that makes sense. I rarely have the full centre column attached as it's plenty tall enough with just the stubby short section.

edit - you can also slide the column out and put it in upside down if you wish.

It might be a bit dark in that picture above but the centre column is removed.

Thank you again.

That image is really good for showing the strength of the tripod.

It is quite a bit heavier than the manfrotto one, but i supppose it makes it sturdier
