hi

i am looking to buy a tripod and i would like to ask you do you think if Manfrotto 190XPROB is a good choice for outside photography, when traveling around, can it support the 5d m2, with 12-24 sigma and canon 24-70mm f/2.8 L USM / the head i am using is
Giottos GTMH1311-652 Ball.
do you think is stable? and can take the camera weight, lenses?

i am not considering the carbon based as its 3 times ore the price.

any other suggestions or advice please?

Thank you

I've just upgraded from a 190CL to an 055 XPRO3. I did OK with the 190 for about five years. It's solid and good to handle, well-made and generally nice to use. I originally had a 234 head before moving to a 410, as I mainly take landscape shots.

My reasons for upgrading:

1) The CF 055 is noticeably lighter. This was important to me as I'm often out and about with it.

2) The 055 is taller. At nearly 6 feet tall, I was stooping all the time to use the 190. This was uncomfortable after a while, resulting in neck and back ache. The 055 with 410 head is tall enough for someone at least a couple inches taller than me I would guess.

3) This could be subjective, but my wife's 055 always seemed to fair better with sand and dirt ingress. I had to be extra careful to avoid that issue, particularly on beaches, whereas hers seems to cope without issue.

The 190 was perfectly capable of holding my 40D and 70-200mm stable.

Manfrotto have a deal on the 055 until the end of the month, which means you can claim a free 327 head, worth at least 75 pounds. I'll be selling mine to offset the upgrade costs.
