Hi everyone,

going to be investing in a tripod in the next week, want to spend about £60-70 tops

requirements are to go to about 150-170cm (so about shoulder height)
and fold down to a good small size
function with my 40D on, without dropping in angle (if that makes any sense, like if I point somewhere to shoot, then press, and it slowly creeps down)

I have seen the redsnappers (both £50, but one has 3 parts, the other 4, adart from folding smaller, and other advantages/disadvantes of them?)

also I have seen a few manfrotto's on ebay, but unsure

and advice would be greatly welcomed

Thanks in advance

Suraj

Although I haven't used it yet (xmas prezzie), i've got a Giottos MTL9351B from WHE for £69 (plus cashback from topcashback)....had giottos goods before and they are top quality

:agree:
I've one of these - very similar to the manfrotto but at a much lower cost.... I'm pleased with mine - I'm 6'3 and this fully extended with a head & gripped D700 attached towers above me... Not that you would ever have it that high - well some might, but it gives you some idea of height....

Just piping in for the skin-flints amongst us.
After over-stretching myself on a decent body and lens, I decided to troll the local free ad paper for a tripod. Ended up with an old Velbon VEB-3. It's built like a tank, weighs in at just over 2kgs and is nothing if not ugly. HOWEVER, it stands at 1.6m, the centre column can be removed and fitted underneath the pod for low level/macro, it's got a removable head on a 1/4 inch stud so I can upgrade the head if need be and it only cost me 15 quid.
I guess what I'm saying is, the used route can work out really well if you know what your requirements are.
;)

Thanks alot for the replies boys, much appreciated

any more opinion on other makes, so I can decide?

You buy the head separate - means you can get the head which most suits your photography.

Yeah but as my budget is £60-70
Then that giottos is out then, as that would be a good £100

The resnapper comes withthe head, or am I wrong?

Anyone else?
Needs to come with a head too/when priced with a head, then under budget too please

Thanks again
