Tripod advice needed

Hi All

I am wanting to purchase a new tripod but being new to SLR photography i need some advice, my last one was Hama costing £60 and the leg fell off on saturday!!

From what i have read it's worth an investment.

My Kit, Canon 450d, largest lens tameron 70-300mm

Types of photography, mainly outdoor, land/sea scapes, wildlife, Macro.

Would rather purchase something someone has recommeded, including the type of head for the photograpy i'll be doing.

Another thing to bear in mind
It also depends on your height theres no point getting a tripod thats only 5ft tall if you are 6`5

What is your budget ?

Do you have any specific requirements e.g. weight, size folded etc ?

You don't mention price so I'll just say that carbon fibre is usefully lighter and that makes a big difference on a hike, but it's a lot more expensive. Check the weight of the head, too - some of them are almost as heavy as the pod itself.

Thanks for all the advice, i called Redsnapper this morning and explained my needs, Joe was great, could have sold me a more expensive tripod and head but sold me what he thought i would need, i will definatley shop with them again. Highly recommended.
