Hey all,
I'm looking to buy a tripod for under £40 if that's possible. I was just wondering if there are any that you recommend, I don't want to be getting something that's too cheap and tacky :p

Save up and get a decent one.

Or, try and get a good secondhand one.

New tripods for less than £40 will, more than likely, be utter sheite..............:)

Only halfway decent ones you'll get at that price are velbon.

But I'd agree with above, you'll be better off saving enough for a redsnapper at least (best value tripods according to most people). In your budget you may just get a used redsnapper off ebay, I'm not sure what kind of prices they go for used.

New tripods under £40 are going to be a bit compromised in the stability department to say the least (or if you're looking second hand, you might get an old model that's stable but heavy and clunky). And given that being a stable platform is the sole purpose of a tripod, that really defeats the purpose.

Okay, thanks all. I think I'm going to have to save up a little bit more. Goshh, this hobby is so annoying when I'm a full-time student without a job. :bang:

i got my mafrotto compact hc3-01 i think it is for 40 from argos and ive had no troubles what so ever good tripod for the money

i got my friend a velbon basic one from jessops in the january sales for 18 that also seems good enough for what we use them for

Josh, I have a set of redsnapper legs (legs only, I use the base plate for something else) that you can have. You would need to speak to Joe at redsnapper and see if he would sell you the baseplate on its own.I never use them now. Just cover postage.

It may work out cheaper for you.........

I have that one - couldn't resist it as at the time it was about £18 - I don't use a tripod that much and having a lightweight one was important to me - it does have a hook to attach a bag to for weight and seems reasonably decent for the price.

I've got one too. Very suprised at how good it was for the price!!

It could be but to be honest I'd rather buy everything at once. I don't even know all the parts of a tripod, I thought they were just tripods. Thanks for the offer though :)
