hey all,
next weekend I will get access to a car so am planing to go somewhere with it.
as I haven't seen much of the coast, I was thinking that is a good opportunity.

are there any nice places worth seeing ? I was thinking Seven Sisters...

will be travelling from London so some place around 2-2,5 hour drive at max ?
seven sisters is around 2hours I think.

Thanks

I really recommend Westward Ho! in north Devon, it is where I am based and has a variety of great things to do, and some beautiful sunsets over Lundy Island. If you want I can recommend some hotels in the area. Unfortunately we are 4 hours from London, but it is worth it for the breathtaking views all around. There is also extreme sports places and also a few small "theme" parks. Whatever you want, we have it quite, to sort of, close!

thanks,
But I need to be back in London latest at 6PM (other commitments that cant be postponed) so 4hour drive one way is a long shot :)
but will keep that in mind for next trip!

head down the south coast, Hythe, Rye, Dungeness, Folkestone, all sorts of great places due south of you, about an hour to hour an half from where you are, depending on the traffic.

A forum or flickr search of those towns will find you some great examples of what they look like.

Edit: oh would also add in Hastings, very pretty and photogenic in the old town and u at the castle.

if you are feeling fit a walk along the cliffs at dover is good too, especially if you follow the path near the edge, rather than the flatter more inland one.

thanks Yv.

few minutes ago was googling Dungeness ;)
looks good for a beach walk ;)

Aldeburgh on the Suffolk Coast is lovely. Stone beach so no sand getting everywhere, great fish and chips, lovely small shops on a quaint high st and some nice pubs. Great place. Approx. 20 mins from Ipswich up A12.
