Hi all

I need some help please.

i have a panoramic frame that i would like to put a print in, however the frame is not a standard size. The frame is made to take an image or mount that is 23.5 x 8 inches. I can get a print done at 24 x 12 inches so i needed to create a blank background in photoshop at the print size of 24 x 12 which i have done, i also needed to resize the image to the frame size of 23.5 x 8 inches which i have done both using the crop tool set at the required sizes. I have no problem dropping the image onto the blank background but where im now stuck is how do make sure the ratios are correct so that when printed at 24 x 12 i can then cut off the excessive paper leaving me with the correct size image of 23.5 x 8 inches

Hope ive made myself clear lol but this is what i currently have with the black being the excessive paper to be cut off but i dont no if the image size will be correct once printed

I use Loxley through my smugmug website and the closest size they do is the 24 x 12, ive not actually looked on there site directly to check if they do a closer size. But i will check now incase they have...

We (Loxley) frequently do custom prints to the exact mm.
Pick your closest size then add your custom instructions in the special instructions box. If easier give Jacqueline a phone and she will place the order for you.

I'm afraid I don't understand the question. Why do you think it might not be correct?

The example you have given does not appear to have the right ratio. What I tend to do to make sure I get it right is..........
1) File->new and select 24x12inch, 300ppi (or whatever)
2) fill with black
3) File->new, select the picture size of 23.5x8.
4) insert the picture and scale to fill the 23.5x8 canvas.
5) select all, copy
6) select the 24x12 file and paste
job done.....
All picture resizing etc is done in step 4 to match the canvas.

Works for me anyway.....

just tried it with your dimensions as got this...

edit: yes I know, I got the black and white the wrong way round ;)

alternatively....
1) load the image and resize so the canvas is 23.5x8
2) image->canvas size and select 24x12 with anchor at centre and canvas extension colour of black
job done....
