Yes
I've been looking for dividers suitable for a peli that don't cost the earth like the genuine peli ones do and I've come across a company called trekpak which offer a really super neat and sleek solution using some foam coated corrugated plastic material and a pin locking system.

Their postage fees to the uk are £50 UPS tracked and while I love the look of the system I can't bring myself to pay that for postage.

Just wondering if anyone on here has bought from them or devised their own similar solution?

I am also looking for a UK or EU supplier of Trekpak! This system looks rather good but like you say, shipping and possible taxes make the price ridiculous.

I see this video:

Seems to suggest Peli are now supporting this system.

I have only found one UK site that mentions them, but only as coming soon: https://www.waterproof-cases.co.uk/product/trekpak/

Looks way better than the old velcro style dividers from Peli, which also cost more! Anyone know anything else on these?

You know that's just coroplast sheet which is quite cheap... I don't see the need for the foam padding w/ the coroplast, but you can buy it padded as well, or glue on some craft foam sheet for DIY (and probably cheaper). Secure it together with SS cotter pins top/bottom (~ $10/100).

This is the only source for it over there I could find quickly... £69 for 3 sq. meters of the stuff. You could do several cases with that... http://www.theplasticshop.co.uk/foam-laminated-plastic-sheet-protect-board.html

You can also buy a coroplast cutter if you're so inclined...

Wow I posted that over a year ago. I must admit. I've bought the proper trekpak system since then and think it's absolutely brilliant. Yes it did cost quite a lot for what it is but thought trying to make it myself could just be more hassle than it was worth. It's a great system and works really well though.

What did you go for exactly in the end and where from if you don't mind me asking?

I bought it direct from the trekpak site, I emailed them and they sent me a discount code to help reduce the shipping fees. It was still quite an expensive system but I felt it was worth it and a one off purchase anyway. Im not sure of the name of the kit I went for. It's the one that you cut yourself and I also ordered a couple of extra "lengths" to allow for future changes to my design. I thought it best to order the spares now rather than have to pay postage again at a later date.

Edited as written terribly on my phone

I had emailed waterproof cases in the UK and they say they will have the kits in stock by end of June / July. They can't confirm what sizes etc at the moment though.

It does work out better value to buy a sheet of the stuff. However not any less of a spend it appears as the sheets are pretty huge.

I do like the lazy option of buying a kit for my case, they also come with top and bottom foam.

Hopefully we will see them in the UK soon. I see peli new lighter cases in the USA come with a trekpak option now.

It really is a great system and means you can fit so much in a case. I've got about 2 bodies and 8 lenses in my 1510. With the pick and pluck foam I was lucky to fit half that in. And the proper pelican branded dividers are quite expensive too so I thought it was worth the extra. I'll be very interested to see how much the retail for direct from the uk though as I might fit my other 1510 out with them too then.

I'd be interested to see/know what all you can fit in a 1510 w/ the TrekPak system. I have the padded dividers and it doesn't sound like I can fit as much... the way it's normally configured it holds Sigma 150/2.8 macro and 12-24/4.5-5.6, Nikon 16-35/4, 24/3.5 PC-E, 24-70/2.8, 70-200/2.8, Zeiss 85/1.4, and 3 speedlights. Plus a bunch of small stuff in the lid organizer.

Unless your lenses or bodies are notably smaller, it seems like I'm down by at least one lens space wise which doesn't really make sense to me. Maybe I'm not as efficiently organized...

There's currently two canon bodies.
Sigma 35/1.4 art, sigma 50/1.4 art, canon 70-300L, 100/2.8L, 24-105/4L, 10-18mm, 17-55/2.8 and a little left over bit with 2 stofen diffusers and 2x camera batteries. Then I've got the Peli lid organiser too. I can take the 70-300L out and fit 2x 580ex speed lights in it too.

I'm missing a lens from that list. I'll have a check what I'm missing...

Ah the other section has a 1.4tc and a set of extension tubes stacked too.

Hey guys, new here.
Whilst trying to find a peli solution that I could find in the UK I found you guys chatting about it. I ordered a Trekpak to my friend in NYC who was going to bring it over, which he didnt, only the cutting tool and pins, he binned the rest thinking it was just packaging! he was half right!
ANYWAY, I went and purchased the above link from the plastic shop. Works really well, so much better than the bloody pick n pluck that had fallen apart plus i can fit loads more in!!
ill link pics when i have 3 posts (site rules)
The long and short of it is I have loads of spare lengths of the stuff and im willing to sell it. I reckon there is enough for 2 or 3 more peli case. You would just need the pins and cutting tool.
I am based in North London (near finsbury park) message me if interested. or if you are local you can use my cutting tool!
Sorry for the long post.
Best
Luke

Both of you please stick to the rules regarding trading.
Particularly these 2
  • You can only use the classifieds if you are an established member.*
  • No trading anywhere except for the classifieds.

Thanks

Hey,
I am only trying to repay the forum for the help I received, in turn paying someone else a helping hand. I can't put up links or become an established member. I am not necessarily trading, just have some spare material that could be useful to someone. Are phone numbers acceptable?
@7753 hopefully we can sort this out for you.
Best

Luke

Whether trading or not, the rules on buying / selling on the forum are quite strict.
(as my above snip of them)
Its all here

60 days membership and 26 meaningful posts are all that is required to meet that criteria.
