Cool

I'm afraid to look at it after the farce that was Nemesis, and if it is remotely related to the 'Enterprise' series, then I will also be afraid to look.

seen all the trailers and it looks awesome :D

not much of a trekkie but i think their going to appeal to huge audience in this one.

leave all preconceptions aside..totally different writers and producers, JJ Abrams of Lost and Cloverfield is the Director with Orci and Kurtzman as writers, 2 out of those 3 are fans. Oh and turn the music up on the trailer, its an ace bit of scoring :D

Looks Awesome! A must see.

Hmmmm, probably will be a good watch but I think it would have been better to take the story and the dynamic and wrapped it in something new.

Or did someone pass a law preventing Paramount from having a new idea?

Star Trek made it much further towards the future that Gene Roddenbury imagined than anyone could have thought but the time has long since passed to call it time and move on. Besides, I'm not sure I can get my head around someone else playing any of the main seven characters any more than it was OK for Steve Martin to butcher Clouseau (or Bilko come to think of it).

thats a harsh comparison..Steve Martin just didnt get Bilko OR Clouseau - he didnt even dye his hair for Clouseau!!, hopefully these new actors make the characters their own. Star Trek has made paramount and CBS stacks of cash, they were always going to reboot the franchise.

Probably. I do find the whole hollywood trend of taking an old idea, re-wrapping it and serving back like it's new, to be a very poor way of using all that creative potential.

I will go and see it, I will want to be won over by it but I fear I'm going to be a tough mountain to climb.

Still, I like to believe that there are always, possibilities. :)

It reminds me of the recent Batman Movies...

i dont think the score is by the same people, the batman score is a Hanns Zimmerman effort, while the trailer is by a pro score company called two steps from hell, the track is called freedom fighters..

I think this has the potential to be one of the best Star Trek movies yet. Zachary Quinto (Sylar) as Spock looks perfect. And Simon Pegg as Scotty... classic :D

I keep expecting spock to cut someones head open

Nemesis was not a farce.:bonk: It had one of the best battle sequences ever in a Star Trek movie, not to mention the sacrifice of 'Data', the brilliant interaction between Picard and his clone. It was probably the best ST movie ever made - hands down beating anything the old ST movies could produce.

It was a great movie by great actors. Go and watch it again! ;)

I wouldn't call it a farce but it was essentially just a remake of khan. Which for me is probably the pick of big screen Star trek.

And yes matty, big fan. Although i'm a bit of the ''original and best'' frame of mind. :)

i must admit, im not sure i like the Ryan Church Enterprise design, the neck is a bit far back on the secondary hull, the saucer is a little too big, and the nacelles look like someone who owns a chavved up corsa got hold of it...a few little changes would have made it look nicer...:geek:
