Trees and Things

I'm off to Westonbirt Arboretum tomorrow to hopefully get some nice shots with the autumn colours etc. I've not done anything like this before so any hints/tips will be much appreciated. I'll be using a Nikon D40 with circular polarizer and figured that my 18-55mm lens might be more suitable than my 55-200mm lens. I'll take a tripod too.

Any advice?

i like tree shots where one stands out
or a lone tree
walk round a tree to review its shape and relativity with the rest of the view
they are marvellous creatures
