I met and spoke to the designer and manufacturer of traxwatch today, Kevin Bromley. Really nice fella and I was blown away with what these things can do, his website is here...Traxwatch. Basically they work on either a trip beam or a PIR system, two modules see each other, badger, for example, walks through the beam or near the detector, they send message to camera and it fires. Now what is really smart is that the traxwatch can fire a 1,2 or 3 second burst for example, a single shot, can be set to focus the camera before the shot is taken or not, depends what you want. They can even operate the video function on cameras equipped with video. The applications are limitless. Getting shots from areas of track not readily accessable for example.
You reckon they look expensive?. Well, how much is a 400,500 or 600 mm lens? These could enable you to use 200 or less, they could in fact save money whilst enhancing your results...........
Not affiliated in any way to the owner of traxwatch, just looked a good product to let others know about.
