I am off around Europe - Hamburg / Berlin / Amsterdam / Paris - aswell as travelling down Africa from east to south for 4 weeks in the summer..

I am in love with the Hasselblad 500CM and 80mm - and the negative. However, I could take a 35mm system with me but I really don't like picking up my nikon slr gear anymore - was probably going to sell it all soon to fund more MF stuff or a 35mm system that uses zeiss glass?

Anybody travelled with MF gear? The only major drawback I can really put my hand on versus taking a 35mm system is the monumental film cost. 3 rolls for every one 35mm. :(. Any thought's past this?

I've travelled with medium format for years now, always with TLRs. I also always have my D7000 on me as well for general snaps.

The film cost depends - I shoot very little so I might only have one roll of 120 a day. You might want to carry a small basic 35mm kit alongside if you want to have the flexibility of longer film?

Sounds like a job for the small p&s you were looking at. Or a if you'll excuse the language a digikal p&s.
