i know i was on about it this morning to the other half, someone was kind enough to pass it around and someone wrecks it for everyone.

But then again you never know he might be genuine and is on holiday or something.

Unfortunately I have been doing quite a lot of buying and selling lately and have had to empty my PM inbox and sent items a couple of times since Christmas. Since I had received an acknowledgment of receipt from pro.wannabe I am afraid I deleted his PM with his address details.

I have been quite surprised by some of the members on this forum, I have given away a lens and a Nikon D70 battery and received no thanks for either, and an A3 printer with spare ink cartridges which I eventually got a belated thanks after contact about something else, so it would not really surprise me if someone decided to take advantage of your generosity to avail themselves of a Spyder, although I genuinely hope not.

If something like this is offered again I would suggest that there is a minimum post count of at least two or three hundred to take part, this might not prevent the same thing happening again but a least you would know they had been a regular poster and therefore less likely to go pete tong.

Good luck in your quest, and if you do not get it back, count me in to any collection that may be raised to replace it.

I've had Marcel send pro.wannabe an email to chase this thing up and see what's going on. Hopefully it'll be resolved soon! Thanks for the offers of donations, hopefully I won't have to take you all up on the offer!

If/when I get it back, I'm going to have to take Ed's advice and limit it to people who have had at least a minimum post count of a few hundred.

Now i would be with everyone else in stringing up anyone who would throw welly's generosity back in his face, but has anyone stopped to think,pro.wannabe may be on Holiday,ill or(Heaven forbid) no longer with us,in the latter case i wouldn't like to be the person to ask his family for the spyder back

If it does re-surface i think welly, you would be well within your rights to limit it to people who had several hundred post(yes it would instantly exclude me, but hey i'll live).

But if it doesn't re-surface, i think the least anyone on the current list should donate a few quid to replace it, and then you should hang on to it and write the whole idea of "the travelling spyder" as good and generous concept, but ultimately a bad idea.

Maybe the next time someone hits upon the idea of passing round a bit of kit, maybe a condition of being added to the "list" is that you PM your contact details to the owner before being added.:shrug:
