Hello

Does anyone know of an easy way to export a few photos from LR CC to Apple Photos ?

The reason I want to do it is because every Christmas I do an Apple calendar for my folks. Problem is that now I use LR all my photos are in there !!

cheers

Your photos are not "in" LR. Remember LR does not contain any images as such, only the reference to them where ever they happen to be in your computer drive. The LR catalogue is a container for all the edits, etc you have made to an image, but are only applied to the image on export.
Why not simply import to Photos from your file manager, using the Photos "Import" menu. If you first want to apply the edits you have made in LR, you would need to export them to consolidate the edits.
I don't believe it can be done directly. Hope that helps.

What Peter said basically. Just export your jpeg from LR and import it into Photos. It's not an elegant solution but I don't think there is a work around.

This is also the way I do it. I have created an exprort preset which automatically opens Photos when the export has finished.

Is there any reason why cant you simply point Apple photos to the folders where the photos are stored on the macs hard disk.

At the unprocessed RAW files?

You can but then you won't see the LR adjustments as they are not actually applied to the original image.

Also, Photos will copy all of the files into it's own library so you will have duplicates across the disk which takes up double the space and is a general PITA. I can see why Apple might want to keep everything in it's own library system for photos but for anyone even remotely interested in doing PP with another app it is immensely frustrating.

So, nowadays I export from LR and import into Photos ONLY so I can share albums with friends and parents (who like to see the extended sets from trips as opposed to the few 5* images I might put on FB etc). Even then, I am slowly migrating to Google Photos which is just a better way of doing things in principle, just lacks a few key features at the moment (like the ability to share on the forum).

Open Lightroom. Select any photos. Do any editing if needed. Click File then Export... export to your C:\Users\[yourname]\Pictures\iCloud Photos\Uploads

That's assuming you do use Apple's iCloud and use the Photo Stream (or Camera Roll)

Once you have exported a copy into that folder, it will automatically sync over Wi-Fi into your iDevice or iMac.
