Transcend SDHC cards any good?

Will shortly be needing some new SDHC cards. I know SanDisk or Lexar are about the best, but not sure I can afford their prices.

I've seen Transcend cards and wondered if anyone here uses them with any regularity and whether you've experienced any problems with them?

They'll be used in a Canon 60D and I'll be after their class 10 models because I'll be using burst mode quite a lot. A 16gb class 10 card can be had from 7dayshop for £14.19!

I use a couple of Transcend cards, along with Kingston and I've never had a problem. Not that it makes a difference but I've used them in snowy conditions and in the Sahara and they have never let me down. Work fine with HD video on my 550D as well, which they should of course.

To be totally fair, I've been lucky enough to never have suffered card failure, no doubt I've spoken too soon! :)

I use the Transcend 16GB class 10 with my 60D had it for half a year with no problems;)
 
I bought 5 Transcend 16gb class 10 cards for my trip to New York in the summer.

When I got home and began transferring the files into Lightroom I was devasted to find one of them was showing zero files.

It took me about 6 hours of searching through the forum finding programs to download and trying to recover them.

In the end, I only lost about a dozen files from the 600 or so that were on the card but it wasn't a nice experience.
 
stick to sandisk and other top makes - the cost of "pictures" is so tiny now it just isn't worth the risk of using cheap brands - if digital hadn't come along we'd be paying about £12 for 36 developed slides or so now !!

Transcend isnt really a "cheap" brand, its just not as expensive as Sandisk or Lexar.

You can get 8gb cards for £3 if you look in the right (or wrong) places - those are cheap cards.

I've used a Transcend 16GB CF card along with Sandisk and Lexar cards and I've had no issues, and is also the fastest card I own, even though the Sandisk is rated higher than the Transcend (yes its a genuine Sandisk card!).

I also own a £7 Peak card which has never failed. Funny that, Peak are a main UK industrial distributor of cards for Sandisk! Its the same card as a Sandisk Ultra 4GB that costs £40.

2x 16GB (class6)Transcends over 2yrs with 5000+clicks on each of them - no probs.
 
There seems to be mixed feelings about transcend. I have used integral for years and not had bother and they're on the 'cheap' side. I tend to fill them then delete them completely and reformat every so often to reduce the chance of having problems. I did buy a transcend one but I don't use it now as I heard too many horror stories so went back to integral.

Also used kingston a lot without issues. Had their microsd cards in phones. Had bobby no name PNY in one camera. Never noticed a problem with that either.

Might give the Peak brand a go if they're similar to sandisk :thumbs:
 
I've been using Transcend 16GB Class 10 cards for nearly 2 years now, never had any issues with them. If I was a professional photographer would I buy Sandisk? Probably but even the most expensive brands fail now and again.

Reminds me of a story a friend told me who worked for Kingsmill bakery. When it was time to produce Tescos value sliced bread all they did was change the packaging and re-started the conveyor belt :D
