I have purchased a d3 so I have been forced to change memory cards.
I was using sandisk ultra2 and extreme 3 on my 50.

But the problem is they are just so expensive.
I noticed that transcend do 133x cards which are the same speed as the extreme 3. But are like £12 per 8gbcard compared to sandisks £40ish for a extreme 3 133x cards.

Has anyone used these cards or the even faster ones? Although I can only find the 133x in the uk?

You can get 16GB Extreme IIIs (30 megs version) for under £60.

Not used Transcend, supposed to be very good.

i use a transcend SD card, it is quite quick, but not as good as my Extreme II.

I have 3 - 8GB X266 cards and they perform without issue with my D300 - i also use them for work where i put virtual PC's & servers onto them - PC on a CF card.

I use trans. 8 gig cards and they are fine, I have also just purchased a dane elec 8 gig from 7day shop for about 12 quid, and I think that is slightly quicker !!

I've also used the Transcend x133 8GB CF card without any issues so far and have not noticed any difference in write speeds compared to the Extreme III cards I already had though it's only on a 3 fps 5D :)

The only difference I noticed in the specs is that the minimum recommended temperature for the Transcend isn't as low as the Extreme III.

You can check read / write speeds for CF and the D3 (& most other DSLR's via drop down tab at top) HERE ... Paul
