Guys, my son bless his cottons just bought me what to a beginner is a cracking little trail camera as a pressie. I've popped it out int'garden and 2night am in on charlie.so that's fun beyond anything else. The camera is close enough to me sat at PC I can actually trawl though vids on my smart phone ( which let it be said I am clueless about.I needed it for work to take images of the shocking state of houses I ply my trade to) So smart phone has been forced upon me, but hey is does have uses

In my tiny brain it seems that if I can connect to my camera.it's a ceyomur95 via bluetuff and wifi with a phone and watch delete vds etc without downloading anything..............then maybe I can do the same with my PC? If I can that means I can watch what goes on at a decent size just for deleting purposes..everythiing is really new to me. But right now watching vids on a phone sucks

How can I tap into my camera with my PC..........I guess I need to down load an app and maybe add in a blue tooth dangle ( sorry delib it amuses me) dongle via USB??

As time goes on I guess trail cam might live further a field and all this might be irrevelent but it's fun right now monitoring fox activity right here and of course as vixen calling locally has already started the mating season is closing in. Having this effortless window into their world is cool watching on a phone is pants? any of you boffins have ideas for me

Cheers in advance thank god it's friday

Had a quick read of the manual and as far as PC connection is concerned there's only the usual plug-in method via USB cable which means the camera would be like a storage device from where you could play the videos.
If you have a tablet or ipad you could install the same app and connect via wi-fi to have a bigger screen to view the recordings.
If this is not an option, an alternative would be depending of what phone you have and if you have a smart TV to cast the phone's screen on the TV.

What make and model of trail cam? I seem to have missed this info.

John my humbles letters are often times a jumble to me as Dan said below CY 95 Ceyomur not Seyomur ( god help me it's not a typo it's me being brain dead )

Ceyomur CY95
Dan thank you not only for the reply but the patience

no smart TV

ha barely any internet,( bar creating a hot spot via the phone I need for work ) the tablet might be an option We will look into that. Shaz does have a tablet but it's very basic

Dan my smart phone is a samsung galaxy S14 which I can use use to create a hot spot with my PC I have to use a wifi dongle . So if I can use the phone to relay the internet then surely there must be a way to tie the Ceyomur app via phone into PC?

.

I can tap into the blue tooth signal on my phone right beside the PC I've just physically done that...

what i'm trying so ineptly to get out is the camera's signal is strong enough to reach the PC

so if one can get that into a phone..................... can't I add sommit to the PC to make the same thing happen? Hence me asking about a blue tooth dongle? It seems illogical that one device can pick up said camera singnal and I can't enable the other to do the same thing when they are literally side be side?

Dan for years now foxes...................charlie......... have visited our garden.this little trail cam will (.already is) enabling me to monitor what's going on.without running myself into the ground doing very up close night shoots. The only time I've really dug at them was in lockdown.when I wasn't hammering myself into the ground on a building site I'm gonna pop one of those frames below be way of saying thanks. Mate they are close and utterly rural not tame but sketchy as hell,if memory serves it took a month of nights to break them just to my 400 DO ii's Af which is damn nigh silent let alone a 1DXii shutter,

They are really close to our front door say 3 to 8M. So my boy's kindness is a window into monitoring what is going on which I hope will allow me more photo ops without running myself into the ground. My day job involves ladders working at height no hands so sleep deprevation ain't an option I want to try and catch the cubs when mum brings 'em much earlier than I have so far.

Hopefully that sheds a little light on why this is important........little phone vids are cool but i'm finding is taxing watching them as already there are so many I constantly need to watch and delete.....I need that to be a pleasure not a pain Here's a cub drinking from what is basically a builders mortar tray boshed into the garden as a bird bath ha ha they possibly came here first for that water source although they do scavange bird food which led to the realization they love peanuts.who knew?

The manufacturer have provided phone apps for connection but no PC drivers.

You might be able to do it if you install an Android emulator on the PC and run the phone app on that. You will also need a Bluetooth dongle if your PC doesn't have one on the motherboard as the app uses Bluetooth to establish a connection and then does the heavy lifting of data transfer by creating it's own WiFi network.

Microsoft also have tool called phonelink to control your phone from your desktop but it might not work if it means connection to multiple WiFi connections at a time.

This trail cam appears to have very good IQ, be good value and very versatile.

I have a number of lower res and dumb trail cams. Maybe time for a change.

I'd go for a tablet instead of a phone personally. The one I'm using to type this runs the latest Android OS, has an 11" screen and was about £150 off Amazon.

Jon so there is such a thing as a blue tooth dongle. for a pc cool !!...I'm going to get my son to walk me through this, he's a polar opposite to me builds PC's built what I am speaking to you on....it's really cool talking to you image makers, which arms me a bit when talking to him about my needs If I can't finds the words I can show him the replies

Thank you so much for your thoughts and time

I have nothing to compare it too John.at the moment I might have an issue re a dark band bottom 3rd of all vids. I haven't yet delved into this as it might just be me. So far it's a good tool though ha solar on the north side of a house with maybe 12 days of clould has knocked the lith battery back.............BUT.that little solar panel will be a massive asset.I have an off grid campervan john I did the leccy I have a base understanding of how solar works .

It is as yet very difficult to be objective about IQ.........the tools I used for the fox image above made at ISO 16,000 IE 16K ( NOT 1600) with little leds in the depths of night are incredible.they are my ball park....but so far trail cam is a tool doing a job. I guess I want to adjust SS and ISO on trail cam and would also take a less densely packed sensor...hell it's there in the wild really capable of getting close to a subject teeny tiny WA lens in blighty..when do I as a wildlife obsessive make images at ISO 100 here in the UK with super tools.

I might well be missing stuff mate, but to really squeeze IQ wring it out of a trail cam I'd not dial in 100 for ISO and pull SS back to 1/30th..

All that said I do like the gizmo John it's a new world that enables a time pressed me

That's good news. Your phone is Dex compatible which is a Samsung app that allows you to connect your phone to your PC and view everything from your phone on the PC screen. No need for bluetooth dongle as connection is made via cable.
More info and Dex download link below

I've not made you smile yet, but you do realize I'm just meant to roll around in the mud with beasties don't you? What we are going through now is so far over my head it's beyond fluffy clouds it's blue sky stuff ;)

No worries at all Stu.
No need for a special cable just the one you charge your phone with. (typically you can unplug the cable from the wall charger and use it to connect to your pc)
I have a samsung phone and use this method so I'll try and come up with a step by step guide in the next few days.
Have you installed Samsumg Dex app on your PC? That's where the magic happens!

Dan I really appreciate all this, no I haven't installed Dex as yet I'm waiting for a step by step guide  Sorry bud folks open doors for me. Being more serious please don't rush of my behalf I'd love a guide " for the challenged " though, that would be fantastic.

I have the required lead ( ok a plethera of 'em).........because my phone never gets charged by mains.we made this made off grid type camper van Dan, with a leccy system , that honestly bewilders me So all gadgets and gizmos get charged in my bus free by the sun which helps pull a biggish (for a little van) Li Fe PO4 battery back a tiny bit.
