After much deliberation, I've now convinced myself that I want 450D for the live view and spot metering and the other bits and pieces it has over my 400D. Is there anywhere that I would be able to trade in my 400D against a 450D whilst the cashback offer is still on?? :thinking: I live in Manc, if that's any help?? :D
 
try selling on here you will probably get more than a dealer will give you on a trade in
 
I think you'll be quite shocked at what they'll offer for a trade in, I had a brand new nikon kit lens I didn't want, can't remember which one it was, it still had the nikon tape on the unopened plastic bag, I took it into Jessops where they were selling it for £99.99

The manager was embarrassed to tell me their trade in price, £12.

I ebayed it and got about £45 for it if I recall correctly

put it in the classifieds on here, as long as you're not asking daft money it'll sell for more than you'll be offered in PX
 
you have to remember that trade value is a lot lower as they will want to make a profit on thet resale as well.
Thats why its better to sell privatly.
 
I agree, private sale is the way to go...depends I guess on how desperately and quickly you wanna sell...

If it helps, I think there's a London Camera Exchange in Manchester who would almost certainly accept it as a part exchange but I don't think they buy outright.

I'm a bit concerned that the mirror has a couple of dust spots (which I'm obviously scared to go anywhere near) and I don't fancy forking out for a service and then selling it as it would defeat the object of my masterplan (the other bit might be a swapping my Wii & 5 games for a Sigma 17-70 or Tamron 17-50 or similar :) )

The camera itself has only had 4k actuations but if i was buying it, I would be concerned about the big blobs I can see through the viewfinder (the sensor seems pretty dust free though for some reason!?)

Thoughts, ideas anyone??
 
If you can see the blobs in the viewfiinder, they'll be on the focusing screen, not the mirror. Annoying though they can be, they don't affect images at all.
 
If you remove the lens and look through the lens opening at the roof of the compartment inside, you'll be looking at the focusing screen. The side you can see is most likely where the dust is, and you should be able to blow it off with a rocket blower or similar. An Arctic Butterfly brush would probably be the safest way to remove it.

If the dust is on the other side of the screen then you can't get at it without removing the screen. Some screens are user removable and some aren't, but it's not something I'd recommend you trying unless you're a patient careful type of person as you're likely to get it back in with more marks than it came out with.
