Yes
Whilst in town with Grendel at the weekend, we kinda hit on the idea of a load of TPFers hooking up sometime down here in the not-too-distant for a curry, with the distinct possiblity of a few beers as well... (Is there really any other way???!)

Anyone up for it?

Well I'm in!
Yeah we could have easily spent the whole afternoon in the pub chatting about all things photog, which I think is where we kinda thought we could make a great evening hooking up with anyone else from TPF who fancied a curry and a few beers. Just a social evening basically. Could be great fun

I definitely like the idea of a curry :) :) and a few beers sounds good too

That's 3 then lol

I'd be up for that, but would suggest a more central location, like the Midlands maybe...;)

Hahahaha! Nuneaton, possibly?

Great idea

If it's not too far from me then I'll certainly pop along.

Very much so - curry is my fave... followed by beer...

Sounds good, Nottingham it is then, bang in the middle

:agree:

We could call it the TPF christmas meal , it'll take us that long to agree on a location

Ps. Baldock has loads of pubs & curry houses ;)

As we will never all agree on one location, why not have lots of local(ish) mini-meets?

Isnt Birmingham classed as the CURRY CAPITAL.

I think this might take a while

LMAO Yeah and my place of work is Letchworth (but closer to Baldock) ! lol but we go to the George and Dragon in Baldock for lunch when im in the office ! ;) Been to one of the curry places in Baldock, was pretty good but a little small ! lol

Id be up for a curry followed by beverages once someone has worked out where it will be !

We're not getting any younger here...
Need to book B&B accom for those of us venturing into 'The North' - the nearer it gets to Xmas, the more difficult that'll be unless you want to lash out £100 on a proper hotelroom - bit much for one person and it's too cold to kip in the car.

Tsk Tsk! Call yourself a soldier?

Right then you indecisive lot. My local curry house is the best take away ever and there's a mini mart next door for booze so you're all coming up to northumberland, we'll get a take away and carry out and you can crash on the floor/sofa/spare room/dogs bed. Get your orders in now and the might have it ready by december.

I'm in. I'll bring a doss-bag, but I'm not bivvy-ing up in the garden - just spent all week on with the RWF on SPTA and it was Baltic/Pearl Harbor (sic) - I was in my Softee-12 with a softee jacket on and it was just about right...

Only because it has so many. (M ostly rotten last time I was there)

Glasgow is top of the leader board for quality curry :D

I don't know Bradford has some pretty mean curry but I'm guessign that is a little too North but then again we could do teh local Xmas party thing

It's starting to look like local(ish) meets (as Cheryl puts it) would be a good idea, otherwise we'll go on like this for a while yet... Any thoughts?

How about local meets on different days so people with time/transport/money (big stomachs) can go to more than one :)

Now that sounds like a good idea mrgrubby! That way more of us could get to meet each other!

I think you'll find thats Bradford my friend.

You can't get a decent curry anywhere else :p

The Yorkshire TPF curry meet HAS to be in Bradford :p

as someone originally from brum, i think you will find they have some of the best curry houses in the land, and yes there are lots, but that just makes for great competition and prices, i don't ever recall having a bad one there. i don't think you could go far wrong there, and it is one of the more central places.

Glasgow officially has the best curry having won the award for curry capital of the UK earlier this year, replacing Birmingham who were last year's recipient. Manchester and Bradford were the runners up while South London came sixth. But Glasgow who held the title for the best multi-ethnic food sector lost out to Bradford this time around.

Michael.

Ok, so who cares where the best curry place is? Let's gets some dates & locations sorted! I can travel anywhere within about a 30 mile radius - I'm quite flexible ;) As Chris suggested the idea in the first place, why don't you come up with the place for the southern peeps? (then we can all blame you if it's awful  )

OK I know a couple - and one's in Aldershot - the Bengal Lancer, or Johhny Ghurka's in North Camp (very good if you like Nepali cuisine).
Or there's a good one in London near the Imperial War Museum - can't remember the name off the top of my head - I'll get back to you on this as I'm currently expanding the data-base now that I have a disposable income again.

Well I have to second the Yorkshire meet being in Bradford and I know of a great place BUT they don't serve alcohol but the place right next door does. The prices are decent and they have a huge area for a large party to meet and be disruptive ;) The only night I cannot do is the 16th of December as I have an Army ball to get gussied up for. Other than that I need a week or so notice to arange child care and then I'm there!

There is a great one in Reading called The Bina - it's nearly always busy, which is a good sign (although I haven't been there for a little while)

With a bit of notice I would be up for a Yorkshire curry night, where we people thinking for yorkshire meet.

There seem to be quite a few people in the South (Uxbridge, Reading, Aldershot, and Farnborough) are we going to have a pre-christmas curry and a drink?

Maybe we could all post photo's of these curry nights so that everyone can put a face a face to the name, and of course being a pre-christmas event embaressing photo's and stories are a must!

A friend off mine goes there quite a bit say's its really nice :)

Sounds like a really good idea Rob, how about this place that Catdaddy suggested - Bina in Reading? Never been there myself but Chris says it's always busy and a busy curry house is a good curry house imo. OK I'm gonna suggest a couple of dates that I can make....this Friday or Saturday night 17th /18th Nov, Saturday 2nd December, Friday 15th December

I can do this friday, or december the 15th.

Any other Southerners (or northers who just live down south) avaliable?
