What an ace way to spend a day!
Thanks for the commentary & getting the pics up Pete.
Some pretty cool stuff there ... especially in the last shot eh, Marcel
great! Poor Marcel in that last one - can't believe he was still smiling!
As for the "Water Street" one - I'm just relieved you went for the bank note idea - considering its other previous name there are worse things that could have been happening on that sign.....!
The only (competition) image of the day that I am willing to post lol.
I learned a hell of a lot really. Firstly that I need to be a little bit more competitive, and secondly that I need to rely far less on photoshop/raw editing, and learn how to actually meter correctly and take a well balanced/exposed capture.
Great day though all in (regardless of my £60 wheel clamp lol) and well done you guys, thoroughly deserved, and considering we weren't allowed to edit etc, you did brilliantly.
Cheers dude. I know what you mean about the exposure. That shot must have been tricky to get. Theres shots where I would have processed them to have a darker sky but we couldn't do that. I think one of the things that impressed me most was Jimmy's filters. They really allow you to be a photographer and not a photoshopper. You can go out, get the shot and thats it. I could have done with a 77mm ND filter for the ferry shot, just to bring out more detail in the sky. I'm rather tempted to invest in a setup because my most used lenses will both be 77mm.
Hello - just thought i'd pop in and say hello - I really enjoyed the day (and the free beer) and thought we got some good results. Thanks to Pete, Tom and Marcel for making me welcome and introducing me to TP - hopefully I can contribute to the discussions here!
Well I gotta say it, I don't think that is a better photo than yours. Too much distraction (port hole, chain, polo logo). Its a fun photo (the eyes) yes, but, not wishing to sound like i am purely sticking up for you guys, yours was a better photo!
News just in, we're having 3 photos displayed at the gallery. Marcel's shower, David being anchor and Jimmy's filtered dock. \o/ 6-9th June, Open Eye gallery.
