Is anyone thinking of attending the big TP get-together this year? I'm only about 90 minutes away and as I'm making it a mission to get out more with the camera this year, it seems like an ideal opportunity.

Posted the question here as I don't often stick my nose into the other forums and thought that others may feel the same way ;)

Just to add to Deans comments, it would be fab to see a film contingent there, quite seriously. If a few were keen and wanted to bring a selection of toys along, I am sure we could even find a spare table for you to hide behind sit around and share some knowledge/have a play with each others bits [innuendo fully intended] ;)

Hmmm.....that makes it a bit more difficult to come up with excuses not to go.

@Andysnap

Andy, remember that conversation we had about some sort of a film workshop type thing?

I might be up for this and know a guy who does demonstrations of wet plate collodion which could be interesting. I'll look at availability of Travelodges etc.

Edit: Maybe someone could bring along some developing equipment to share the magic. @moomike, fancy a road trip?

I do remember. I'll have to check with the CMS but I could probably find a space in my busy schedule to attend. I think it would be a good idea to bring a few different film cameras and maybe some devving kit to intrigue the digital ones.

Guess what @Andysnap ......I gets everywhere !!! :D

Well possibly :p

If my geography of the uk remains intact, then Luton airport is fairly close to this meet is it not?

I can fly direct to Luton and find digs fairly nearby. ( thanks for the link!)

Getting to and from the meet is possibly or possibly not so easy, I dunno.....

This is very much dipping my toes in the water but if there's enough of the f&c crowd going, then I may be tempted to join in.

Primarily it depends on logistics and prices of flights, transfers, accomodation etc...

I am liking the way this thread is heading

@Asha Yes, luton airport is apparently 9 miles from the hall, and plenty of local digs available, almost all of which will have someone passing them on way in/out so one of us would grab you on the way past. If they have rooms left once you have decided, the Old Hunters Lodge [pub, restaurant and B&B and probably where a few of us will head for food and bevvy on Saturday evening] is a 5 min walk away.

As my co-conspirator has just said,
yep, that would be a great idea if someone (some people) was (were) up to having a little corner to help and discuss all aspects of film

BTW, there is also a link to accommodation in the initial post.

i should be living in Welwyn by then so only up the road. Could bring the 5x4 along and show these digital upstarts how its really done :)

OK thanks Yv for that info...I've just sent that B&B an email requesting some details including transfers between there and the airport.

Atm I'm considering a friday arrival and monday depart so as to make the sat and sun as chilled as poss :D

A riot is good, this section is far too peaceful :D

That's not what you said last time it all kicked off
Has it ever kicked off in F&C?
I remember someone getting miffed because Roberts served milk with the
coffee, and there not being a "cream option" :D

It was a dark day, let us not speak of it again.

Darn, if it wasn't the best part of a 300 mile round trip I'd be really interested. Although I'm not sure if looking at loads of exciting film stuff is good for my wallet (or relationship :S ) so it's probably for the best

About the same for me as well. I might see if I can get on the train as I don't have to pay....But then I may need picking up and dropping off at the gig.... and I would need to lug a load of bags with me.....

I don't know what to do.

I can pick you up from somewhere nearby, Andy. I'm planning to drive up on the Saturday morning and a short detour is no drama :)

Thanks Dean, that would make things easier. I will have to check with the CMS to make sure I'm free (oops, went a bit John Inman then).

Closer to 400 miles round trip for me. Worth it though!

Last year I stayed at the Hunter's lodge (or is it the Hunters' lodge?) which is an easy walk from the village hall (and is coincidentally where a load of us went for a bite to eat on the Saturday evening.) Great breakfast as well as a comfy bed.

Pretty much a 400 mile round trip for me too from the Wirral but I'm looking at the logistics now. Assuming I do drive, I'll be passing through Stoke on the M6 if you fancy a lift @Andysnap? Got to be easier than lugging your kit on the train :0)

Is this turning into an F&C day out?

Well come on guys can we pull this off ??
I'm on thé verge of booking a flight to Luton and digs in whipsnade fri to mon.....transfers are the only downside.....for crying out loud a return taxi from airport to digs is gunna cost half thé flight fare from south France to London.

I'm sure we can sort out something between us all.
