TP Meet - York - 13th January 2007

Make sure he's OK with it first....If not lemme know and I'll ply him with sugar cubes until he agrees.

Sorry we missed you guys but our of interest who turned up yesterday ? and where did you go. We sort of wandered round Clifford's Tower, The Minster and then the shopping areas.

We had:

Darksaber (Matt)
Sue
H.R.Ford (Renee) & Husband & Keegan
Warspite (Glyn)
Jimmy Lemon (Tom)
Braeden (Lee)
Barry a
Marianne
Kamion (Han)
Petemc (Pete)

We met at the train station, went to the railway museum and stayed there for a few hours, renee went off to explore around a little more with her family and get keegan some food. We decided the rumblings in our tummy's needed sorting too and we ventured out to pizza hut, han and pete went to find something else as Pete isn't a pizza fan but after that we went to the Minster, spent a couple of hours there, minus Barry and Marianne who went off for a bit of an exploration.

We met up again a little later and found a starbucks, had a natter and a coffee then set back off home, tom and pete went back to the minster to photograph it with the special lights on, Sue tried to follow but found that she couldnt get around the back of the Minster as the gates were all locked so she came back.

here's a couple of the happy snappers.....

the first one is Petemc, Kamion (Han) and Chuckles (Barry)

Haha. I had very bad hat hair! ;) I would like to preview the image just to make sure he captured my usual charm on film ;)

Hehe thanks :D It was a top day. Although some of York is a shambles ;)

And thats coming from a Liverpudlian!

I presume that went straight over your head Joe.:D

If not I apologise..:bonk:

Very nice pics so far people

Like the Window shot on your blog Marianne, certainly a very warming picture exspecially with that decanter in view :D Off to look at the rest now - theres soo many

ooo good collection Marianne :D Really do like some of the close ups of the train controls (sure there is a propper word for them) All mine were hopeless :( Get a really good feel of what York is like from all your shots :)

The great thing about photo meets is that you get to see how others saw the location. Marianne's are vastly different to how saw things. Oddly I never noticed how warm looking the streets were in the evening light. Think I was too busy trying to not bang into people :) Nice shots Marianne.

There were a lot of people wandering around in the streets and they are so narrow! They scare me!

Anyway, speaking of people, here are some photos of some:

Here is Pete, sans hat.......not only is he in a church, he appears to be kneeling and praying for his shot to work out ;)

A photo of Marianne (not the one I wanted to use - the one I wanted to use turned out realy blurry :( suffice to say it was quite a goodun and we caught her off guard. Braeden (Lee) and his son (Liam) are also in the shot.

And here we have a group photo sans me :D

Well nice to see everyone that was there (and remebered their phone) looking forward to photos from those we didnt catch up with, to see how they found york.

Will process some of mine this evening, and will post in my blog daily, and some people ones here later.

Pete, you're gonna hate me for saying this, but you actually suit the "non hat" look. My wife agrees too....and I didn't pay her...but then again, she is a bit blind...she did marry me after all :D

Ok so these are some of my people shot, not done a lot with them.

How does this work??

Not very good, but taken before we went to hunt coffee the way everyone was pointing cameras at marianne was quite funny.

my "Anti Getting Photographed Radar" must have been totaly bust on Saturday :|

it was so funny Sue...I didn't realise that they were all taking a photo of me, I was telling Barry off for taking photos with me in my glasses so I whipped them off turned round and screamed! It was like the paparazzi all taking photos at the same time

yeah i saw it wasnt really taking picture of you more the situation :) lol

Finally got them sorted ..... well block-sized with hardly any edits, just a few for white-balance (not even any cropping).

I must admit I was having a bad day - you know the ones.... no inspiration, wondering why I bother :( Well, I was pleasantly surprised at the results I have......

Put together a Simple Viewer album to save flooding threads etc.

Had an absolutely lovely time with you all.... have to do it somewhere else again sometime..... :)

WOW! Some cracking shots there! Really do like the one of the fountain, especially the one looking down the fountain with the lights underneath! Amazed how sharp the shot of the pigeons is too! That was a very quick snap (or two) whilst waiting outside Pizza Hut wasnt it? Really great collection of shots :)

Yet more great shots, love all those locomotive pics Barry - really gives a sense of how big those engines are

Yep, that's right Tom..... had to do something whilst we were waiting for the clean tables to be cleared! Thanks for the comment.

Total steel and copper Behemoths.... an bygone era that should never have gone by (Grrr - Beeching seeth) ..... well, except for the soot smuts on all the washing every Monday!

Some great pictures from everyone from what I have seen so far. Marianne and Barry love the albums you have set up, they show all your great photos without filling the forums.

Looking forward to the next meet, think someone mentioned Liverpool.

Thanks Sue...

'spect that was Pete - dunno why?

Cambridge is a nice place to go!

Well people pick a date and start a thread with info, looking forward to it.

I could do cambridge cuz we can stay in Lakenheath for cheap! Of course I have to find someone to watch the dog and cat but it could be done. Liverpool in Feb is what Pete was talking about and then London way in March but Cambridge is London way....
