I dont think it matters that much now, Flickr seem to have done the job for us.
If you load a photo on here using the BB code (copy n paste) direct into your post it puts the photo there at I think its around 600x500 but then gives the viewer the option to click on the pic for all the other sizes so I see no reason now to change the size, but this isnt available if you upload using photobucket or other hosts

The bigger the better, but we possibly dont all have big monitors?

1024 for me, that way everyone can post a size they are happy with.

Those who prefer 800x800 can still post that size, and anyone posting at 1024 knowing some people won't be able to see it all. Not sure why. Even the office PC's with 15" monitors can easily see them.

Why does one size have to fit all?
Couldn't a modification can be made to the forum software to make the size images display at a size the user can select? Each member can select the option they prefer then.
This would also save the mods time having to hunt for and sort out over-sized images

I mentioned this earlier in the thread, if the forum auto scaled images they would loose sharpness. View a pin sharp image and zoom out a bit on your browser, you'll notice it.

I'm only using your post to illustrate the many comments regards Flickr, DM.

The point of my post is to hopefully draw attention to the Admin/Mods team here that there has got to be a great deal of us who don't use Flickr, and that site shouldn't dictate the way in which image size is driven and/or decided upon as I'm sure all will agree that we're not an extension to the Flickr site :)

so the 1024 poster's are told to shut up and put up because people want to use a ipad :cuckoo: its almost like saying post 500x346 because i am on dial-up

Ok time for me to wait for the outcome and shut up before i upset anyone, Please hurry up

No - everyone gets to vote for their preference and the option with the most votes wins. It's not a personal attack on anyone...

WOW! ...... GREAT POST!

I've just spotted a great feature on CannockWolf's newcastle thread...

But now it's gone...

If that's an idea being tested to get round the image size fiasco then it's a great feature!

I didnt get a change to see if it has an affect on image quality though, before it was pulled down.

If you are referring to the image banners  about re-sizing then I hope it's gone for good ... bloody annoying imho!

I like em, as it means I can see images in more detail without having to scoot over to Flickr (which I rarely do). Clicking the image banner to see the bigger version is a much slicker solution.

or maybe wait until you know how it works before binning the idea? Some of you are never happy.

I know how it works! But the header is totally distracting to the shots ... and I'm always happy
