TP Gardeners Question Time

OK, I am guessing that on a forum as big as TP there has to be a few keen gardeners that might be able to answer my 2 questions - well that swhat I am hoping, google is getting me down.

1 - bluebells, the ones in the garden have gone to seed as it were, normally I just ignore them and they grow again next year, but some are in an area I want to clear, can I cut them back now, or should I wait until the seed heads have actually burst before cutting them back as I would still like them to fill the area next spring if possible.

2 - We have a grape vine growing against the wall of the house which for the last two years has looked a bit worse wofr wear - some of the leaves shrivel and go curly and it generally looks like it has a disease bu no idea what. Each autumn the vine is cut back hard, and through summer its trimmed to stop it getting to out of hand, which i was told a few years ago is the way to treat them. Any ideas on giving its a boost or do they have an 'acceptable life' that might have been reached? :shrug:

the bluebell is a bulb so you should be fine to cut them now. In theory as the leaves die off the goodness is taken back into the bulb for stronger growth next year but you should be fine

Not sure on the vine, it sounds like you might be getting aphids if the leaves are curling up a bit. DO they look sort of "bubbly" as well?

Thanks Dod, I have checked the leaves on the vine and there are no signs of aphids or any other fauna, which is why I wondered about disease, or maybe a nutrient definciency, as the soil is very shallow, but general feed hasn't helped :shrug:

bluebells, I will leave for another week perhaps then get choping back [will probably be that long before I can get in the garden again]

Dried Blood from't garden centre for't grapevine might help, they love a bit of blood, put it round the roots after the frosts.
Watch out for pets though,as they love it to,so fork it in and shove a mulch on't top.

Bluebells ,I've shifted em after flowering and they die back,but come again next spring.
