This week has brought several pieces of incredibly good news regarding the TP convention in October. So, in order to get your attention, I am [ab]using ALL my moderator privileges and posting it here in the Talk Photography area so as many people as possible see it.

Firstly, for information about booking, please visit the original thread in the meeting place forum, the first few pages contain all the information you need and the mini website will be getting an update in the almost immediate future too. Convention Thread

So, to summarise what has happened so far, the place is booked. Several members have willing offered services such as Talks about software, Filters, Lenses for Hire and so on. Several have offered to bring along their wildlife hides so the budding camo gang can have a look. The LeeP at Togs Print and Matt from ISL Studios made an huge contribution by offering a complete studio set up with help and advice on using it [Matt] and processing your images ready for print [Lee]. This was all wonderful news and exactly what we hoped for.

However, not satisfied with that, Lee has been hard at work talking to his suppliers and this week sent me an email with some great news. I shall quote it for you, he phrased it better than I could anyway...

Epson will be joining me in the printing side of the business for the weekend - they'll be bringing their newest printers from the 2800 through to the 7900 with some show offers for TP members
:woot: :woot:

But the message went on.....

Also - my media supplier Fastek will be joining me too. They will be supporting us on the colour management, RIP software and media application for printing.

So by this point I could quite happily have driven from London to Leeds to give him a big hug for his efforts. Yes, of course these people joining us is as beneficial to them as it is to us, but the information and knowledge that will be on hand is unbeleivable for something that started as a 'shall we have a big national meet somewhere' idea.

So, not booked yet? You better go and visit the original thread.

As a reminder, everyone will be expected to pay a fiver, either now or on the day. This will be the deposit for the rooms for those that are taking accomodation and as a contribution to the costs of the conference room for those that are visiting. There are NO single rooms left, so grab yourself a TP mate [or even 3 or 4] and get your room booked sooner rather than later.

Whilst on the subject of money, do remember, there will be a raffle, with prizes already offered by Redsnapper and I know Matty is working on getting a few more, so don't come with empty pockets ;)

More news as I get it, lets make this a huge weekend for TalkPhotography, we are afterall, the best forum on the interweb :naughty:

OK now with all that information.. can some one tell me the best credit card deals they have come across?!?!?!? lol and a way to stop hubby finding out how much i am going to want/will spend.

well done all of you on news and a big thank you

Good news. Now just email Canon and tell them that Nikon have exclusive access to a large bunch of togs with money to spend

This looks very interesting, how much is it exactly per person £5 for both days? Plus accommodation?

Well done on getting all this arranged!

heres hoping its that easy...:D

Wow, it´s just getting better and better, and if you can get Canon there too it´s definitely worth the price of my air fare :D

After all, I was just looking forward to meeting some people I´ve talked to on here and it´s turning into a great (potentially expensive) opportunity, but at least hubby will still be in Spain

WOW that is great news !!!!

After reading the above if Yvonne was Prime Minister this country wouldn't be in the state it is!

Awesome stuff - looking forward to this, great news Yvonne and great work to Matt and Lee

Guys and gals,

This is going to be one fab weekend - lots on offer, lots of great talks and things to get involved with. Sadly, I have no contacts within Canon to talk to (being a Nikon user an all that ) but if anyone wants to pass on any details I'd be delighted to give them a call for you.

PLEASE PLEASE bring some images on CD/memory card with you for the guys at Fastek and Epson to do their wonders with ;)

We'll have some great displays and equipment on show - a couple of mini tutorials and how to get the most from your images etc

togsPrint.com will be giving a show offer of 30% off anything ordered there and then too and I know speaking with Barry and Neil at Epson that they're looking at doing something pretty special for you too

£5 for this sort of event is an absolute bargain!

Cool, will do - have some images i'd like printed maybe.

Well thats great news guy`s. Cannot make it myself due to being out of work and distance, but I hope it turns out a great day for all and could well be the start of something unique. Heres to next years event

Ooo yes, Photography Convention in the middle of a forest, packs rain jacket, thermos and tent :D

Gutted i wont be able to make this, not long back off my honeymoon when this ticks around. Looks like its going to be an amazing weekend.

If there is one next year, i'm sure the new Mrs. Stebbings and I will try and make it there, hang out with some pretty cool people and enjoy the great efforts that the team here really go through for everyone.

Lets get this years done first guys

For those that are only just picking up on this, Yorks was chosen as being fairly central for everyone [bearing in mind we have members in Scotland as well as london ;) ] and very accessible by road, rail, etc as well as having a variety of photographic locations close by, urban, rural, and so on, for thos that don't want to stay on site all weekend.

IF this is a huge success and its run again next year, a decision on location will be made then.

Don't get me wrong Yvonne, I fully understand why York was chosen and am not complaining (other than I can't get there for that weekend!)

I'm sure it'll be a belter of a weekend for all involved.

This has certainly developed into a real draw of an event, so well done to everyone involved so far!

The fact that Nikon will be attending plus it's only in York means that it would be totally rude for me not to go!

Where is the info on this hidden away please?

I have looked through loads of lists, but haven't found it yet. Must be under the bed, or maybe, in the cupboard. I checked in the microwave, and it wasn't there, but my cold coffee was. :help:

Thank you....looks interesting and I like the fact that there is the opportunity to visit for one day too - if I am not booked, for some work I'll take a run up on the bike.

I'd love to come to the convention, but there's one small problem

I'm a loner :'(

that ok, yu dont necessarily have to talk to anyone!!

i,ve e-mailed canon so lets see what happens suggested they might be missing out:lol:

More news, look slike we will be having a really good display of manfrotto tripods and others. :D

I am off to York in 2 weeks time to have a quick nosey round the place too, so will report back when that is done

Finally, if you plan on visiting just for the day, please please keep an eye on the threads and website, as there may be news regarding that soon
