Hi everyone,
Just a bit of feedback/suggestion for next year.

Looking through the 2009 calendar, it is obvious it is quite slanted towards animals. 9 out of the 13 photos are animals.

While they are all good photos, I just think it's probably too much of a good thing.

Maybe the TPF calendar should be split into categories, roughly the different sections in the Photo Critique and Sharing forum:
1) Animals & Nature, Birds
2) Landscape & Scenery
3) People & Portraits
4) Motorsport & Transport, Sports
5) Macro and Close-up
6) City & Urban life (or something)

Each photo will have to be entered into a category (by the photographer), and the top two winners of each category will be in the calendar, plus a random one (most votes?) for the cover.

This thread highlights the other photos entered this year, but didn't quite make it:

Some stunning ones in there as well!

Just thought that more variety would be nice!

I thought it was voted by the members?

I like that idea.

It will still be voted for, but will have the top from a few categories.

Er, just a thought.....

Is it too late to put an announcement on the cover that 11 of the winning entries were taken with Canon equipment and just ONE with a Nikon body. :whistling:
(Stan makes up the 13 with his Sony)

Maybe your 6 categories need sub-dividing into "gear used" so that everyone has a chance :)

Here's another suggestion for next year. Not to do with the means of choosing the photos, but more to do with the layout.

There are two common layouts for monthly calendars:
(A) Sun-Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat
(B) Mon-Tue-Wed-Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun

Most calendars you'll see in shops, and the TP one, are (A). But if you asked people what they considered was most convenient/practical, I think most people would say (B) because it puts the two weekend days together.

Just a thought.

We did that on the first calendar in 2006, but moved Sunday to the left as that's the start of most people's weeks.
I think next year we might try for a different design. A4, but landscape...and double sided.
Top half = photo, bottom half = calendar. This way we can get bigger photos on it, and bigger days (I like to write on mine and if its a busy day I end up running out of room, I'm sure it's the same for others too).
