TP 52'ers Class of 2016 Discussion thread Week 52 we made it! time to celebrate /( celebrations)

Although I'll continue to post the theme in the chat thread,
that was the thinking behind having a separate locked thread so nothing got lost or swamped (y)
Would it be a plan to have all the how-to's and additional resources also in the locked thread, so everything is together rather than in this one and that one.
Shrug, just thinking out loud.

Not a bad idea actually Tim, I can soon duplicate it there its no problem (y)

Edit actually I created a new ( locked ) thread, of linky's and how too's, but left the others in place.
Now there are loads of places to find the info (y)

I can't believe it week zero and behind already!!! Although in my defence it is largely due to not being able to find what I want to take a picture off!! So I will place hold a space for it come back to it - should find what I want in the next couple of weeks so all good.

AFAIC week Zero is a warm up, and as it ran concurrently with '52 2015 I ignored it, If you want to do 53 weeks that's up to you.

Absolute, there were a few people itching to get started, its by no means "compulsory" :)

I will.comment as much as i can, i am finding obviously that someone has beat me to what i want to comment, i have decided just to put a like to a similar comment, i would have said.
Back in the groove tomorrow why do holidays go so quick:(

I'll continue to comment as much as I can, but as Walter says, in many cases people have already said anything I would want to add.

Folks. What are your thoughts on multiple pics being posted per week for each theme? Call me a party pooper but for me it makes it harder to post meaningful comments. I know in general a change in ruling to only 1 picture per post (even in your own thread) is not feasible, but I'd vote for that

I agree, it does (even though I posted three myself). I'd be happy to limit it to one image or perhaps a set of images of the same subject?

I'm happy with a limit, but I have to admit, having posting several shots myself for the metal theme, I found it interesting to know peoples favourites and the reasons they worked or didn't work, and shows just how subjective photography can be. (my own favourite hasn't matched with anyone else's).

I see where you are coming from Jason, its a tough call TBH as the following 2 posts from yours show's.
I'm not sure that everyone is in it, for in depth critique, either, TBH.
What does others think?

Yo toggers great & small, welcome to 2016. :woot:

I will continue to post just the single shot each week but very occasionally you might get two, because I'm genuinely interested to know which of the two you prefer.

Without sounding bitchy ... I sometimes see three shots and think to myself: I wish he had spent three times longer working on just one of those shots.

For me my 52 is a personal journey and although comments are always nice I do it much more for me than for critique (as I think Chris mentioned)

I though the idea of the 52 was to use your camera more, with themes to nudge you outside your comfort zone. Although I normally only post one picture, sometimes I might post 2, as said to see which works best. I wouldn't encourage more than one unless there is good reason for it, but as their are only guidelines and not rules it is difficult to enforce anyway.

Also you don't have to comment on all the pictures so if overwhelmed by images for a theme then you can alway skip commenting on it.

I will try and post one image in the no comments image thread and mabye three in my own picture thread, that way people may understand my shooting style or how i see the world.

Sounds like a good compromise ( if one was needed) Lee

I am not sure a compromise needed, just my thoughts because I have hardly posted in the past, hopefully people will get my style. I have already enjoyed looking through posters other idea for metal, in their personal treads, inspiring me to think in a way i would not usually do.

I think there should be an option for c&c, in the title of thread box, as said some people dont want it, at least that way you are on safer ground, i have seen it so many times someone gives c&c, then asked by op what would you change or how would you do it and op gets a blank
I would be happy to stick with one pic a week

I think there should be an option for c&c,
That prefix only applies to the main forum threads, but there is nothing stopping you or anyone else putting that in their own title bar or above the images they post

Definitely. I welcome c&c, it's the best way for me to learn / progress :)

Good points raised by all of the above. I can see and understand them all. My initial comments are from the POV that we all post here to receive comments and feedback to improve our skills - I never even stopped to consider this wasn't potentially a shared view. The deep thinker in me still believes we all post on this forum to fundamentally share our work and therefore receive comment. If this weren't the case, why upload?

I want C&C, its the best way to learn.
I too will stick to one image in the main thread, but maybe stretch to 2 in my own thread if I really cant decide and am genuinely interested in feedback on what works and what doesn't.

Personally speaking as I said in my opening post of 2015 / 52
Those that know my "style" from the zoo section,
will know that I never take things to seriously or literally.
And hopefully the theme will continue with this.
Same applies to this year too. If people want to offer critique or advice, great, if they don't that's cool also.
Its a personal challenge to kick me up the arse, and make me take a few images, from time to time,
as per last year, I'm expecting work to go manic as it warms up, and I may well ( as per last year also ) miss a chunk out the middle.

If I wanted serious critique I'd post in a specific forum, what I'm saying is,
the 52 is different things to different people.

I'm on my 6th year of doing the 52s  and once you get into the swing of posting your weekly submission and a link to your TP52 thread in the 'no comments' thread, you'd do it without a second thought.

Week 2 is nearly upon us :)

One statement I've made before and I will continue to do so is, please make sure you offer constructive crit as needed. It's quite easy to comment on the good aspects of our submissions, but we'll all learn more by having the 'faults' pointed out

Cheers all.

That's very true, I can see that now though this discussion. :)

Wise words there :)
