have I missed something, is Dark Knight OK?
Dean ( @Dark Knight ) is alive and well, well he was when I spoke to him last week.

He's absolutely flat out work wise., but did assure me that he hopes to catch up with the TP "Stuff" before too long.

Hi folks, just a quick update on why I haven't been posting. Things have been a bit manic, three bike trips in the last month, and work in between, plus a complete refurb of the house has been taking up all my spare time. Also, my main camera (Sony A7rii) has died, it got water damage, in spite of taking care not to get it wet. Looks like a Sony repair, I sent it Alan Marlow but he can't fix it. The motherboard is trashed. I still have the A7s, so will continue with that in the meantime. I've actually got some images for the last few themes, so will post them asap. So, I've not bailed out, will still catch up, and try and finish the year

I suspect as some people don't like enclosed spaces and others don't like heights there are some who can't bear creepy crawlies. One of the bar staff at my local is phobic about frogs and toads. I fear running out of wine.

It's not a phobia per se, they don't have me running from the room. Just that by choice, I'd rather have nothing to do with them.
The best comment I could muster would be "good photo" or something equally banal, so don't see the point.

You could say "good photo", "on theme". :exit:

That’s what everyone says to everyones photos pretty much, wether they are good or not
I would agree there is a certain amount of that type of comment, but I wouldn't say everyone does it. Although, after seeing some of the hissy fits we've had over the past few years, sometimes it can be excused.
I think what is really missing is the 'why' you like (or dislike) certain pictures.

I know I can certainly be guilty of sometimes posting a 'on theme' comment (haven't we all), I think though, that's on the hardest type of shot to comment on, one where we have no strong feelings either way.
It's a difficult balance.

I'm afraid if I have nothing useful to say about a photograph then I'll either just 'like' it or say nothing at all. I don't like to criticise as it is often not taken in the spirit with which it is intended and some photos -- including many of my own -- are not necessarily worth a comment. I must add here though that if I haven't commented it is more likely that I haven't had the time while the theme was current and me commenting weeks down the line is just too late to be useful.

I agree 100%
I wouldn't say everyone does it either but I find if I do pass a comment thats maybe critical its taken the wrong way I have kind of given up so i say nothing constructive at all, which is losing the point of the challenge, just liking the photo regardless how does that help?
I don't think any of us would say we are excellent photographers, I know I'm not, so if people suggest a different approach or even dislike it for whatever reason, wether I agree or disagree thats fine by me, if I feel the need to explain it I will.

This is just a cop out your opinion is just as valid as anyone else's , isn't it?

I must say i would rather have someone constuctivly criticise my picture than not comment or just say 'on theme', otherwise how am i going to improve? I know ive been guilty of that comment in the past and also guilty of taking comments the wrong way.

Nobody mentions the Critique word, Critique is what we're not getting enough of. Critique is something altogether more philosophical and should be welcomed by all. :D

Anyway, moving on ..... we're just about at the halfway mark, we all need to pull our socks up, no shirking, no straggling.

.... just remembered I'm away for 3 weeks in September. :runaway:

Thursday Thursday Ra-Ra-Ra!!!! :woot::banana::woot:

Thursday again, I'm already 2 weeks behind. Been a busy couple of weeks but I hope to get creatures n hard shot in the next couple of days. Shot more on film this week which doesn't help things lol

You better steer clear of mine for Creatures [emoji1] . Have had a 'creepy' and an 'Uugh' already.

Totally agree David, I try to give valid comments on things I see, they tend to be on the negative side as we all need to improve our current level of seeing. I know I do. Some of the subjects are hard to do justice to and the images taken can be very wide ranging. We also all have different subjects we like and dislike.

We all lead very busy lives and I can struggle to find as little as 15minutes some weeks to take photos, never mind the time to travel places.
It also take a lot of time to view and comment on other submissions.

Don't worry about giving any sort of Critique to my submissions and any suggestions to improve them are also welcomed.

Pete

I'm looking forward to it already
:D

Couldn't you get any closer?
:D

Where is @Cobra with the theme, plus I already know what next weeks is :D
 and I bet you don't especially if I post first before up dating the titles :D

Just home give the kettle a chance to boil and I'll wave my wand ( and no that's not a euphemism :p )

Is this the real theme, is it just fantasy?

I'd say its synthetic TBH

No escape from reality...

How about next year we have all the themes from lines in Bohemian Rhapsody, that'd be interesting... :exit:

I was literally just typing the same thing as Pete @seaodyssey , except I had it down to the 1970’s, I’m even older.

And getting deep about it a photograph is a synthetic representation of reality, so a photo of a photo...

of a photo of a photo ...

of a photo of a photo ...

of a photo of a photo ...

To be honest, most things today are synthetics, plastics, materials, oils, medicines, alloys (I think could also be considered synthetic as they don't occur natually).
So the scope appears to be very wide.

I'm on it (y)

Jesus. What the hell am i meant to do with this?!?
There are loads of synthetic things ;)
Even lateral thinking might help (y)

Do I have to do all the work?
:p

Someone's cracked it

You are so lucky to have missed polyester bedding.

Pete

Born in 61 so I can remember polyester bedding, it was so lovely to sleep on if you wanted to be nice and comfy... NOT
PS: I have and had sensitive skin so hated the old bedding.
