I have had two of these since 2014. One was written off when a truck forced us into the central res in 2019. Its mileage was excellent as I drive to max the mileage; always in the low 60s. The newer one, a 2018 1.5, did not do as well but I could still get high 50s. Until recently. Suddenly - which of course it isn’t because we have been locked down and there has only recently been a (legal) weekly journey, I get the same mileage as my wife’s much bigger Toyota ie low 50s. I think this happened After a service in September (it didn’t really need it but I did it anyway) and short journeys to get the shopping hid it. Research on the net says that this issue (software updates reducing mileage)?was noted in 2018 on a Prius. Does anybody have any insight / experience of this? The garage over the road (non Toyota and v helpful) put it on the computer and found no anomalies. I have not yet approached the Toyota garage where the service was done.

I have had mine , Auris 1.8 Hybrid since Nov 2016 , it has done 21700 miles at an average MPG of 55.7 , with max of 67 and min of 44.
I have noticed that MPG has dropped since lockdown as I am not going very far and secondly it does not like supermarket petrol , overall I get consistently higher figures (3/4 mpg) using shell fuelsaver rather that supermarket U/L but the reduced cost of S/Mkt offsets the reduced MPG.

That's interesting. I will try my other route on Friday and see how that goes. I know it is not me and how I drive it. Any other experiences out there please?

The excessively cold weather we have had of late as well as just short journeys won't help. It is only really worth making any sort of comparison when the temperature has warmed up. My car, not a Toyota or a hybrid, on my 8 mile commute normally does 30-32mpg, in winter it normally drops to 29-31mpg. With the recent sub zero temperatures it slipped down to 24mpg, now the weather is warming up again the mpg is climbing again.

Well, just an update - it seems to be better although to be fair I haven't been on any motorways in freezing weather so both above theories seem to apply, Cheers!
