Really looking forward to seeing how Wiggo will defend his title... with all the talk that Froome will be team leader and Wiggo's big target is the Giro

I really dont see Bradley as defending champion starting the tour not as team leader
and the big question is can either of them beat Contrador with this tour being a very mountainous year
what do you guys think

I think Wiggins has lost some respect from me. Arguable Froome was forced to gift this year's Tour to Wiggins. All the talk from Sky and Brailsford was that next year Froome will lead the team. Now Wiggins has said that he will challenge for it. Talk about creating ructions within the team! Brailsford has a tricky problem to sort out for sure.

I'm not sure you could argue that Froome would have won it last year. That all got blown up by the media a little bit I think. There was still a considerable time difference between them come the end. I do however think that Froome is the stronger climber, so it could be a Tour well suited to him.

As for Contador, less said about that dirty cheat the better!

I see both sides of that story. The black and white side of me agrees with you. He had it in his blood, therefore he's a cheat. BUT he has such a miniscule amount that in no way did it enhance his performance.

we had a different thread about the drug cheats on on this forum where I made my feelings clear about that issue so can we keep this free of the drug cheat chat and talk about the race prospects please

I do think Froome is a great rider but dont think he would of taken last years tour Wiggins was too strong in the time trials

also really looking forward to seeing how Cavendish does with the new team,,, he is certainly one of the all time great sprinters no one can ever take that away from him.. but I dont think he will break the record for most career stage wins sprinters usually stay at the top for around 4 years right at the top of the tree and Cavs time must be coming to an end soon

whatever happens this years cycling season is going to be great seeing how it all pans out

I saw an interview the other day where Wiggo said he was going to be supporting Froome who will be the team leader and he was quite happy with that. Has this changed?

Chris :)

Not long to go now till the greatest sporting event of the year begins! There will be a new yellow jersey winner this year. But will it be a Brit?

According to french sport magazine, Wiggins has pulled out of the tour

Just watched it live on Eurosport.. he blew them away - he must be full of confidence for the upcoming Tour

I read on the team sky website this afternoon that Froome still has more to come. It's looking good for his tour chances.

Think Froome will win it this year.

I'm going to have a bet on Richie Porte each way though. He's going to be Froome's lieutenant this year and will be charged with seeing him safely through the mountain stages. He's also no slouch when it comes to time trialling.

I think the bookies odds on Froome winning are ridiculous 8/11 on - no doubt he should be favourite on current form but those are are crazy

Yep, 4/6 with Skybet for Froome just now.

Porte is 20/1 to win and each way is paying 1/4 odds for three places. Essentially 5/1 for him to finish in the top 3. That's got to be the value bet.

Can't wait for it to start now! So much great sport on just now with the Lions tour coming to an end, Wimbledon just starting and now the Tour only 4 days away! :D:D

Why do people care what this cheat says or thinks. The sooner the media stop asking his opinions on things the better.

The thing is he had been there got caught. He has more knowledge than most on the of cycling world. I am not saying he is right but his experiences must count towards something.

His experiences are one of the biggest cheat any sport has ever had.. and as such I hope he disapears off the Radar forever
and as such who in there right mind would believe anything he says

so in a Nutshell you believe it when he is saying the 2013 winner will be a drug cheat
it makes my blood boil that he is not behind bars - for years and years he has fraudulently accepted money from sponsors etc also ruined the careers of many top cyclists with the power he commanded
the sooner he is jailed and made bankrupt cant come soon enough

I never said that the winner would be a drug cheat I said he had far more knowledge of what goes on than us.

Far more knowledge about cheating than any one on planet Earth.. and as such does not deserve any time in any kind of media time spouting the poison that comes out of his mouth

And they're off! Watching it in glorious HD. The next 3 weeks of my life are devoted to Le Tour!

Least they got the bus moved though. Plenty of over the bars action in the closing stages.

Well one can only guess what's going on at Eurosport's online HQ. According to their website Miguel Indurain is currently sitting pretty in 7th place. Our very own Boardman is 11th!

Interesting tour so far. :) Quite unpredictable.

The first stage with the bus was crazy. :bonk: Glad I wasn't the coach driver. :$

Thankfully a lot less crashes in the first week compared to last year. They were all over the place last year.

Can't wait for some mountains for the contenders to show what form they are in. :)
