Tough or just good luck?

I know luck, or lack of it goes in threes, but I, (or rather my kit) has recently survived two fraught episodes. Number one was at Semer Water in the Yorkshire Dales when my beloved dropped my almost equally beloved Lee Big Stopper on the rocks from a height of three feet. It survived! as did my marriage! Not a mark or blemish was evident and after a reviving local brew, my heart returned to its usual rate.

Number two was down to me when I dropped my B&W CP whilst removing it. It landed fair and square on my 24-105 reposing in my bag on he ground. It bounced from there onto the stoney ground and ran several feet down an embankement. Again, not a mark was discernible, and as my beloved was elsewhere on this occasion, there were no cross words other than the customary cursing and swearing. (Not to mention the words of praise to the ethereal guardian of my gear).

The worrying thing is that I am now fretting over the next inevitable "happening" which I just know will result in disaster.

Sounds like you're going to drop your 5D MkII and it's going to smash into pieces.

Give your beloved some cheap, or unwanted bits, in the hope she drops one of those, and breaks the curse :D

Oh thanks Neil. ;) I rather hoped for messages of support to soothe my fevered brow.

Ah yes, like a make up mirror or two? She says she will never handle my equipment again:(

Can I suggest you just be more careful with your gear? :)

Is it insured? Sounds like you should consider that if you're accident prone.

As for luck... there's no such thing unless you accept that what we call luck is merely random, and every once in a while, a bunch of good stuff happens, or some bad stuff happens. It doesn't come in threes any more than Santa comes down your chimney.

Yes, my gear is well insured. Thankfully I have never needed to claim on it.

Strap all of your equipment to the back of cats. If you drop it, no problem.

You may have some issues with the cats wandering off or licking your kit.

When we were on a club shoot at a harbour recently a member dropped his lens on the concrete wand was a bit upset. I mentioned he was lucky it didnt roll off the edge into the river.

Sounds like she hasn't forgiven the outburst then
