I hope I'm not intruding where I shouldn't. I'm keen to learn about photography but don't really know where to start. I have a very basic "point & shoot" camera, and I'm looking to find courses in my area (Newcastle upon Tyne) that will give me the confidence to invest in a better camera.
I love taking photos of food....mostly stuff I've cooked and also of places....stuff that changes without you realising in your own environment.
Courses in my area seem to be daytime.....perhaps we are not supposed to work? (How else will I afford a better camera I wonder?)
 
As a PS to the above..........How do I post photos to my gallery?

You'll find all the info you can use and more on here, have a look though the tutorial sections, they are a great help, and use the search function to find what you want to know, the 'talk basics' forum is a good place to start with any questions you may have that you think are silly, lot's of friendly advice to be had.

Hello Carol and welcome. I too have in-expensive cameras, yet have felt right at home on tp and gained lots of help and advice.
With regards posting to your gallery, I find it just as easy to post pictures to my threads from other photo hosts such as flickr which dont have the size limitations that the tp gallery has.
