Hello...im a total newbie....ordered my first dslr camera.....a Canon 500D, but it still hasnt arrived yet!:annoyed:
just comes with an 18-55mm lens

when i say im a newbie...im a total newbie!! i have no idea what sort of lens that is! im just hoping its easy to use!!! I hope your all willing to help a total idiot become a photographer lol:cuckoo:

thanks everyone.....got an e-mail from camera place....they said it could be this week....or next week when my camera comes.....why cant they just give me a date!! lol
 
thank-you!! im itching to take pics....but dont have a clue how they are guna turn out....i can imagine the instruction book being as big as an argos catalogue!!
 
I was exactly the same as you a few months ago so I went on a day course to learn how to use it coz I hate reading manuals.

I went on the Understanding your EOS camera with a company called Experience Seminars. I had a discount voucher inside the box with the 450D so you may get one with the 500D.

I'd highly recommend it as a good way to learn the technical bits about the camera.

Then the other side of learning is getting out there and taking shots, making mistakes, learning from them, and getting out there again

im 7 months pregnant so hoping to take some nice pics of my bump ha ha....thats if i havnt given birth before it turns up!
 
Well if the camera arrives first, at least you will have something to rest it on, and if the camera arrives second, you wont need to buy a wide angle lens for family shots :D :exit:

lol it looks like grass!! its all green long fibres like my front garden ha ha
can u get told off for that?? im new so have no idea what we can say,ask etc.

I'm on the same boat as Jen. This forum has been a great help and has opened my eyes to various apsects of photography.

It takes time :). You can still get good pictures when you first pick up the camera.

Alls you can do is just keep practicing with it :).

yup...just been outside now to get some flower pics....messed about in manual rather than a pre set setting this time!!
going to post them in the nature bit, n see how to improve!!! as well as get some slating comments no doubt! :lol:
