Hi, Anyone tried both of these (Topaz Remask 3.2 versus OnOne Perfect Mask 5.2) and would give an opinion please?.
I did a search and was presented with Download crack, serial etc etc so didn't help much:(
Thanks
Russ

You can download trials of both of them as well as Fluid mask which I am trying at the moment. I had a brief shot with Perfect Mask which seemed ok although I didn't put enough effort in to offer a serious opinion, I might go back to it. Fluid Mask is interesting and I'm having reasonable results with it but will need to spend a bit more time. I might go on and try Topaz.

They all promise amazing things, and these might be possible with a lot of experience but I think it's healthier to assume that you are going to have to do a bit of work in Photoshop as well. One of the things that is attractive about Fluid Mask is that it works inside PS whereas with Perfect Mask you save the result as a PS file that you then have to load into PS. Perfect Mask and Fluid Mask have different interfaces and approaches even though there are overlaps.

I'd also be interested in any Topaz Remark opinions and experiences.

Hi, Thanks for the reply.
Been watching some of the webinar's on these sites and so far OnOne seems to be about the easiest to use and does a very good job.
On the Topaz site they make it sound a little more complicated than it needs to be IMO you need to do more to get the same result.

Download the trials, one at a time, and see how they work. I'm still more inclined towards Fluid Mask but once you have a serious play with them you find their shortcomings and peculiarities. onOne seems no worse than Fluid Mask so far as results go but the need to save as a PSD file then open it in PS was a bit of a drag. There are peculiar things happen using any of them, I still haven't tried Topaz, but you're never sure whether it's the plug-in or something else.

I think in the end you aren't going to get a programme that does a perfect job, it's probably impossible and Photoshop will get the best results, but we're after something that speeds up the process. Give them all a try, one at a time I'd say, and post your findings, it would be a real service. I'll do the same when I've slogged my way through the three of them. In the meantime if anybody out there has used or is enthusiastic about any of the masking plug-ins why not send a message?

I've used Topaz Remask a fair bit and OnOne a couple of times.

For me, Topaz seems to get a pretty decent result fairly quickly. I never found OnOne as good as the demos suggested.

I should probably say I'm using Topaz when the b/g needs tidying up rather than cutting bits of lace off graffiti covered walls.

Hi, As I posted in another thread OnOne have a deal on for the full suite 7 at 50% off and that of course includes the Perfect Mask and the free update to be released later this year.
I sent them an email complaining that as I already had Perfect Effects 4 if I bought the suite I would be buying software I already had and paid for and they replied that as an OnOne customer I could get the whole suite 7 for $99.95 (USD not GBP) worked out at £66.35p so went for it.

I have tried both I use remask out if the 2 because I tried that first and got the hang of it quite quickly and couldnt get the fluid work flow with onone. SO that is not me saying topaz is better I just learnt it first and didnt adjust as easily to onone. But now to be honest I only use it for quick dirty jobs I actually like making selectons using photoshop tools refine mask etc and diving into channels and calculations.
