Topaz, anybody used it??

I was wondering if anybody has tried Topaz? it's seems similar-ish to Lucis art but a lot cheaper. Wayne

I've got it, but don't use it much.

Just feels like it does something you could do in PS3, but without the effort.

Lucis is far better... but that price!!

I prefer Topaz, it handles 16bit which is nice. Lucis is far better at handling haloing but thats easy to fix in PS anyway.

I LOVE topaz adjust!
Love the detail it can produce, though i have no experience of LucisArt.
It's a good alternative though mefinks!

That's quite a tough one - it's a bit like HDR; each individual image depending on what it is and how it's lit really needs it's own particular settings, plus your own individual taste obviously comes into it as well...

I had the 30 day trial version of Topaz. It's still available to download at their site if you want to try it out. It produces an HDR effect but I thought the results looked overcooked. Used sparingly however. it can make a huge difference to landscapes, clouds in particular but you could get similar results in P/Shop or Elements with a little effort. I would rate it 5/10

I just bought package off Kelby blog. Denoise was the main thing i wanted as trial i found better than noise ninja. £74 for all programmes seemed like too good a bargain to pass up. Will report when Played although arm in sling so may be a while.

I'm relatively lazy, and when it comes to cleaning up images with pixellation, Topaz Clean is wonderful. Again, it depends on the settings, but on an Apply Image layer, if it looks overdone you can just lower the opacity anyway.
