Just been rolling about laughing talking to a neighbour who's a pretty smokey church organist and pianist. The other weekend he was asked to play piano at a local hall for a sing along type evening. He was assured the piano was a fantastic bit of kit, but having been caught before, he popped in when passing to have a look at it. It transpired it was only in tune in parts, and it had three busted notes right in the middle of the keyboard! They asked if he could "play around them?"
To cut a long story short, he ended up tuning the piano, and replacing the broken hammers from right at the bass end of the keyboard.
The evening went down well it seems - and all for the princely sum of 30 quid!
