Top Gear v Fifth Gear

i think top gear is better entertainment but 5th gear give better car reviews, except top gear have a bigger budget and do more exciting reviews. like ragging there cars though france etc..

fifth gear is absolutely dire, presenters are dreadful and the majority of the stuff they do is well a bit ****, personally i think the top gear presentation team work better together and the articles are more informative, whereas on 5th gear it seems more like vicky butler henderson shouting "phwooor id like to **** someone if they drove that car" shes bloody awful, as is the bloke that looks a bit like bill bailey and the less said about plato the better, he should stick to stock cars or whatever it is he uses his touring car for

Top gear for me. I don't even drive. But seeing a Camero coming over a field with a cow tied to it's roof will take some beating.

Top gear for me, I record fifth gear and fast forward thro it

Top Gear :woot:  :woot:

Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

( HAMMOND  )

Got to be Top Gear, still watch Fifth Gear but its not half the show Top Gear is.

top gear all the way, only problem with top gear is that i end up wising i could buy some of the cars,

:agree:

Top gear does reviews on cars I'll never be able to own, 5th gear is a bit more down to earth....

Don't hold back mate, tell it as you see it...

Not a 5th gear fan then ?

I can't watch that vicky girl on fifth gear! Her laugh is enough to make me switch the tv off!

Don't you just always get the feeling with 5th gear that they are trying too hard. Persistence over talent and all that! TG is better entertainment, 5th Gear tries to run 'proper' reviews, but I can't stand the people doing the reviewing!

boring point of the day:
top gear is actually a copy of 5th gear.. well... kinda
channel 5 bought the rights to top gear. they bought pretty much everything bar the presenters and the name. They then called it 5th gear. Then the BBC came back with something they decided to call Top Gear ('Old gits ripping off Jack Ass with cars' just didnt have a good ring to it') ;)

Top Gear used to be about the cars, now it's just a lads mag, JC makes the program but wiil also be the end of it, once we finally get fed up of watching his childishness the program has nowhere else to go.

Fifth Gear I've hardly watched but I've not been impressed with the ones I have seen, VBH and the other guy are not the greatest of presenters.

Bring back Quentin Wilson!

Top Gear for me. They are a bit childish at times but who isn't :baby:.

Fifth Gear has improved since they got rid of the Lovejoy fella that presented the previous series. I quite like Tom Ford and I find the VBH fake squeeling irritating.

i prefer top gear

yeah ok so the "challanges" are contrived and its more about entertainment that reveiwing cars but who gives a ****?

I do wish they would review more normal cars from time to time though.

fith gear.. i watch it if its on but wont switch over from say sponge bob squarepants if thats already on.

I like both but as already said 5th gear is more informative of realistic cars, than the dream cars they always seem to show on Top Gear. Strange that 5th Gear's Tom Ford still writes for Top Gear Magazine.

Top Gear of course - I'm surprised you even needed to ask! ;)

i prefer watching topgear reviewing cars id never have the chance of owning, a program devoting 5-10mins on the latest ford fiesta would bore me to tears, it wouldnt be entertaining (and thats why 5th gear fails i think)

if i want a review of a mondeo, focus, vectra etc ill buy autoexpress

look at some of the older top gears though when they did revivew the vectra

IMO one of the best shows ever was when JC reviewed the vectra using just the word "bland".. (summit like that anyhow)
it could be entertaining and IMO top gear could make it so.

Much as I would like to see VBH doing a "naked special" 5th gear doesnt rock my boat, its not got the spark that TG has.

I have no interest in cars per se, but love TG for it's entertainment value. Never seen FG so have no opinion to share .

Going against the grain here.

Haven't watched Top Gear in ages, got sick of only being given information on cars I would never be able to afford. I can remember when they did road tests on your normal average car that people on a normal wage might actually buy.
There is just no balance on there. Plus the damn stupid stunts they get up to that are totally pointless just got on my nerves.
The last episode I saw they were racing three vehicles made into boats on Lake Rudyard in Staffordshire. I was only sorry that they ever allowed them on to such a beautiful lake with their polluting contraptions.
Rant over.

5th Gear might not be as exciting but at least a lot of the information is relevant.

top gear

used to really like Driven on C4, thats where May came from, ironically i thought he was the C4 version of Clarkson. I know its not reviewing cars i want to buy, its reviewing cars i want to drive...

neither, would rather watch paint dry

TG of course - BUT, Room for both. Be sad to see Fifth Gear axed!

 Holy thread revival Batman!!
